It's That Time of Year Again

There Will Be Games
I know it's early, but since was the nearest BGN column slot I had to Halloween I figured I'd spend the time over there talking about how to make a scary game. Besides, I noticed to my complete disgust that there were Christmas menus up in my local pub in August this  year so I reckon I can probably get away with this. So head on over and check it out .

By way of padding out the introduction somewhat and as a bonus to you, our loyal F:AT readership, this weeks column comes with some extra F:AT exclusive content - a list of the songs I'm going to be putting on for my Halloween gaming soundtrack. Now while it'd be easy just to throw together a playlist of a bunch of overtly occult metal tracks, or an hour of ear-rendingly unlistenable industrial music, I wanted to go for something a little more subtle. After all, if the only unsettling thing about the track is the lyrics, then you need to be listening to the lyrics in order to be unsettled, and that's not going to work if it's background music for your gaming session. So I tried to pick stuff that sounded creepy and never-jangling rather than just flat out discordant.

Anyway, here's the list. I made a rule of not putting in any artist more than once and it's resulted in a list of songs which cross a lot of different musical styles, so plenty of variety, and I reckon it'd hang together pretty well if played in the suggested order. I've provided links to youTube where I could find one - otherwise you'll have to track them down yourselves.
