Tense, surprising and fun. That about sums it up. Oh, and the female protagonist is very attractive.
I'm glad I was able to avoid spoilers and I suggest you do the same. The movie was constantly making me second guess what was going on or what was going to happen. I was frequently surprised and shocked, which is a rare treat in film these days. I really dug all the performances as well, I agree that John Goodman really delivers the mail this time around.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead gives a solid leading performance as well in a great Sigourney Weaver-type role model of strong, independent and capable female action leads. She constantly is coming up with inventive solutions that sort of cross her between MacGyver and Matt Damon's Martian. Her skill set might be a little too perfect for her predicament which messed with my mind in the same way that Matt Damon's stranded astronaut was a botanist. But that's ok, it's a great popcorn flick.
Loved the ending as well. Just non-stop surprises this movie. New franchise perhaps?
Again, if you're going to see it, make sure to avoid learning anything at all about it. It'll be much better that way.
