I fell asleep but the songs are quite fun and really help lift this movie.
I went to see this with my daughter, my two nephews, my sister and brother-in-law. My sister and I fell fast asleep, my brother-in-law is a big fan of the show (I've never seen it) so he stayed up and deduced that the show was better and all three kids really liked it. I think that's pretty much right. This is the first kids movie I've seen in a while where it really is JUST for the kids. It doesn't offer much to adults as much as Will Arnett tries. I feel like the great Stan Lee cameos were really the only thing for me. Which is fine, not every kid movie needs to have stuff for the adults, but just be warned for that.
The songs are a ton of fun and really save this movie for me. Everything else is just moving the story along and making the ever so brief sidetracks that don't add anything at all. There's an entire time travelling sequence which takes minutes, but basically is what Family Guy would have done in 10 seconds, max.
The visuals can really blow out your retinas pretty quick with all the action and colors. I don't think this movie cost much to make, especially given the lack of star power in the voices, so I think they're just printing money with this release.
Your kids will love it, but man do those butt and fart jokes get old FAST. The songs will make the experience very enjoyable but you'll retain nothing of this film ten minutes after leaving the theatre. Probably less.
Still ranks among the best of the DC movies so far though.
I just hope my Emily doesn't start showing interest in Deadpool now. It's much too early.
