Game Information

In 2011, Stronghold Games announced that they were re-printing the old family favorite Suvive!. And there was much rejoicing! There is always much enthusiasm when a new edition of a long out of print game from our childhood is released, but once the nostalgia wears off, do those games actually have any staying power? Did the nostalgia wear off for you? Or did the re-print of Survive! survive? What do you think of the expansions? Survive: Space Attack!? The 30th Anniversary Edition? Do you love it or hate it?...
Battlestar Galactica Board Game
Rants & Raves U ubarose Updated May 06, 2019 1367   0

Game Information

Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game, released in 2008 by Fantasy Flight Games, took our site by storm. Described by the publisher as "an exciting game of mistrust, intrigue, and the struggle for survival," it did not disappoint. Although it may not have been the first hidden traitor game, it's initial popularity certainly conrtibuted to the many subsequent hidden traitor games designed and released over the next decade.

Scattergories
Rants & Raves U ubarose Updated February 19, 2019 904   0
Its the day after Thanksgiving, and yesterday, after clearing the plates from our feast, our family played Scattergories, Cockroach Poker and Heck Meck.  When I was a kid, it would have been Monolpoly, Dominos or Blackjack. In later years these games were replaced by Trivial Pursuit and Pictionary. The games we play after holiday feasts may have changed, but the fun we have hasn't.     Do you play games with family on Thanksgiving? If so what do you play?

Rants & Raves U ubarose Updated May 06, 2019 1975   0

Game Information

Game Name
Talisman the Magical Quest Game, desgined by Bob Harris was published in 1983 and has been a much loved and a much loathed game ever since. I once asked Mr. Harris if he had a choice, would he rather be remembered as "Robert J. Harris, the author," or "Bob Harris the designer of Talisman?"  He answered that although he didn't expect to be remembered at all, that one of his great pleasures was recieving letters from children all over the world about the fun and happiness that Talisman a had given them.

Game Information

It's almost Halloween, so less take a look back at the spooky game - Shadow Hunters by Z-Man Games. There is fairly recent reprint of Shadow Hunters which includes the 10 card expansion with the additional characters, so it would appear that Shadow Hunters has been a popular game and people are still playing it. If you have never played and want to know more about it, you can check out one of our reviews - Shadow Hunters Review by Matt Drake or Shadow Hunters Board Game Review by Shellie Rose . ...

Game Information

The Downfall of Pompeii, designed by Klaus-Jurgen Wrede, the creator of  Carcasonne, is a Euro-style game that also appealed to Ameritrashers. With its clever placement and movement mechanics, this family favorite had you racing for the gates of Pompeii, while blocking your opponents with hot lava and throwing them into the volcano.

Wrath of Ashardalon
Rants & Raves U ubarose Updated May 06, 2019 1359   0
Wrath of Ashardalon the second game in a series of Dungeon & Dragons board games relased by Wizards of the Coast in 2010 - 2011. The first one, Castle Ravenloft, caused quite a stir. It was a D & D fully cooperative dungeon crawl that didn't a Dungeon Master. It had a simple, yet effective, AI and a highy accessible rule set. Wizards of the Coast followed up with Wrath of Ashardelon, which included campaign rules, in Febuary of 2011; and finally Legend of Drizzt in October of 2011. We have since seen many more fully...
