The Technological Singularity, the moment when the first smarter-than-human AI starts self-improving and promptly becomes super powerful and remakes the world in the image of whatever goals it was coded to optimize for, is coming. No one can stop it. What the players are trying to do is ensure that the first such AI is Friendly, a technical term which means that the end-state it turns the world into is one that humans can live in and enjoy, instead of a Terminator-esque hellscape. The default for an AI is to be unFriendly: you have to try really hard, and...

I've been with Lunchtime Studio's for about a year now. I've been helping to design 'Lords of New York'. Before that I was a restaurant manager - most recently at Burger King.  So I was at ConnCon yesterday showing off our new game - 'Lords of New York'. A friend of mine came up to me and said "Well last I heard you were working for Burger King. How do you go from that to being a game designer?" I don't remember what I said. Something stupid probably. I was kind of shocked at the question. I'd...

After publication of HEARTS AND MINDS, KING PHILIP'S WAR, AND LEAPING LEMMINGS, this blog is in response to the many supportive gamers who want to know what else I have in the works. The phrase "Indulgent Wife Enterprises" is unreserved recognition for Jenny, my editor, my therapist and my biggest fan. Although she plays few games, without her, my games would be nothing but dreams. She is my sounding board and my muse.

Myes. All this in the box. It has been a long road getting to this point, but has finally come. The multi-year one man project to create a full on professional board game is complete. PHZ has been released- actually for a couple weeks now. My apologies, with the whole 'one man' thing and all a lot of time got eaten up actually packing up and shipping the pre-orders (thanks again guys), updating the website, and occasionally, occasionally, sleeping. If you want to read more about the actual description of the game,...

For the last few months renowned Discworld illustrator Stephen Player has been frantically been working on the images for Guards! Guards! A Discworld boardgame.   He has recently completed them and they are superb.  They are further enhanced as each character image is accompanied by a quote about that character from one of the Discworld books. In addition to the Discworld character images Stephen has also drawn four Dragon illustrations set to the backdrop of Ankh-Morpork and is finishing off with illustrating the item cards. The artwork to date can...

The one man project to make a game of the quality and scale of Fantasy Flight is almost here to ship! After 2 long years of hard work, long hours, and literally thousands of pieces of original artwork, the game's manufacture is completely and has been shipped to me a few days ago for the final step in its assembly. It's slated to arrive, no joke, April 1st.
Posthumous Z: In production

Starting February 14th, 2011, the manufacturing process began on Posthumous Z. The game is being self published. For those of you unfamiliar, Posthumous Z started 2 years ago, one man's attempt to try and create awesomeness on the same scale that Fantasy Flight might dedicate 30 guys to. A team based zombie game, that's fun, strategic, easy to learn, and colorful to the max. With nearly 300 cards, each with its own card art and flavor, and enough parts to play a desperate 1 on 1 to a full on apocalypse of 5 on 5. ...

Imagine a city. Not just any kind of city. No.  This is Rain City, a brooding metropolitan futuristic world of neon and shattered dreams. Inside things are slowly awakening: Crime bosses moving around the streets, Assassins hunt after your people, and terrorist bombings are on the verge of blowing up those precious districts you had power over. As an Agent it is your job to do the dirty work for the "Agency", an unofficial government-run corporation that tries to control the crime rate, no longer covered by the regular police...
Posthumous Z: A One Man Operation

I am Nathan Little. 2 years ago I decided to try and make a board game, Posthumous. This is its tale. This audacious idea first sprang forth back in December 0f 2008. My friends and I gather together every weekend and do some gaming, switching in between RPGs and board games. We played a lot of 'stab your neighbor'  games, and that kind of stress gets under your skin over time. It was on one such fateful game of Talisman that my bud Delbert, perhaps a bit perturbed at losing his fifth turn in a row, felt...
