A Euro that absolutely doesn't suck

Can't say enough good things about this one. More thematic than Ticket to Ride, there's a great deal of tension, interaction, blocking, and all sorts of other goodies.

Buy up the good stuff. Manipulate the market. Try to find bargains. Power your plants with what I'm assuming is human waste. Light up the night sky as your electric empire devours the dreams of the would-be luminosity-peddlers.

Light pollution. Get on board.

A Euro with Nukes

This is an economic efficiency game. I love the theme and the cartoony artwork (I work in the nuclear power industry), and the game is fun. It has simple rules, is easy to learn, and scales great with any number of players. I usually don't care for efficiency exercises, but I think the modern setting and theme make it a bit more interesting for me (though I'm becoming increasingly disenchanted by it).

The game does tend to get pretty mathy and analytical, though, which can be undesirable depending on my mood. The last turn tends to bog down as everyone starts really thinking about their every expenditure and counting everything, as that last turn is the one that really counts. It's one of the better Eurogames, but I'm usually in the mood for a game with more craziness and less math, and more fun.

Among the best Euros

One of the best Eurogames ever. Even if the theme is rather thin, the tension is all real. The marathon aspect is brillant, the best strategy is not to lead, but to stay a little bit behind, and when you feel the end is soon you make your move to surge ahead, but is it really the end? And can your opponents follow you?

A good thinking game. You don't get Power Grid for the pretty pieces, you get it for the competitive play. Plays six, board is tight, worth playing multiple times.

While this is a Eurogame the buying and selling aspects of it remind me more of classic games like monopoly as opposed to the more bland auctioning found in most modern Eurogames. Pretty much the best economic game I have played, buying land (in the form of connections), utilities and resources has never been so much fun. The game can be math heavy but for some odd reason I can't quite put my finger on it all works.

Purchased the Italy/German map which is fun to play on, but haven't felt the need to get any of the others. It's a nice expansion which changes the game slightly; basically a new map for those sick of playing on the old ones.
