Neuroshima Hex is a fast and destructive game of post-apocalyptic combat.

Four different armies on hex tiles are presented with enough different combat values and capabilities for the units (soldiers, cyborgs, mutants), HQs, and modules to make the armies distinctive from each other The science fiction theme comes through too. It becomes quite a challange with 4 players. This is a superior game of combat in war-ravaged North America.

I've played this in person and on the app and it is a tight design but one that is a bit too abstract to really light my fire. In fact, I'd probably argue that it's abstract enough to make a much better app than in person game. That said, I have only used the base factions in my games.

Michal Oracz is the King of Asymmetry. This game has wildly different factions, deterministic combat, and the only element of luck is what tiles you will draw on your turn. Some people swear by the app since it greatly speeds up combat resolution, but I think a lot is lost in the process. I will say that later expansion armies have poor production quality, often featuring very thin tiles. That is a disappointment. You can also grab the 2018 Monolith Arena, which re-themes this game into a fantasy setting. For more, you can see me rave about this game in the April 2019 issue of Tabletop Gaming magazine.

Solid game if you like deterministic combat on a hex grid... I've heard that the app is great.
