You arrived too late to stop the loathsome rite, and a monstrous, transdimensional Ancient One tears through reality. An iridescent rift slashes across the darkened skies, heralding the nightmarish creatures that pour into the hallowed buildings of Miskatonic University. As howls and screams cut through the night, there is only one path left for your fearless investigators—hold back the horde long enough to somehow reverse the summoning.

Arkham Horror: Final Hour is a fully cooperative, fast-paced board game for one to four players. An endless tide of monsters sweeps across the Miskatonic University campus, and you must hold them back, all while searching desperately for the ritual components you need to put an end to this insanity. Playable in under 60 minutes, your fate depends on cooperation between you and your fellow investigators. The odds against you are astronomical, but if you don’t succeed, this will indeed be the final hour for Arkham... and the world.

Arkham Horror in an hour, with an emphasis on combat, and no plastic minis to drive up the price? Yes, please.

This was the only game in FFG's announcement that interested me. Fully embracing the pulp and having to solve the puzzle while constantly shooting could be interesting.

Could being the operative word.

If I thought there was a way to play this as a substitute for Final Battle in Arkham Horror 2nd edition, I would be excited. But as a standalone game, this could easily be good, bad, or just meh. One hour or less makes it sound like a filler, and I usually dislike filler games. I'm willing to try it, but there is zero chance that I will buy it without playing first.

The worst and least Lovecraftian part of Arkham Horror made into a full game. GRRRRRRREAT.

That was kind of my reaction. We played dozens of games of AH, but never once bothered with the final battle sequence. If the GOO had entered the world, we were doomed and the game was over. This sounds like a bit more of a race against time/solve the puzzle before doom occurs scenario, which would be a lot more interesting than simply slugging it out with the demon god. But I have Cthulhu Wars and Fate of the Elder Gods, so I think I'm content with the HPL stuff on the shelf.

Posted this on the other FFG thread by accident, but fast Arkham Horror seems like the game they should have released instead of 3rd edition aka AHLCG the board game. Would have given them a longer expansion heavy game in the line and a new short game in the line, plus the LCG. 3rd fizzled, and now I think people will be hesitant on this one.

Joel gave this a rundown. My enthusiasm has plummeted. It just looks so boring.

Looks similar to WITCH OF SALEM - but FFG's board is less cool

Heh...that’s a game that has been all but forgotten!
