Two years ago, I wrote a recap of a 24-hour board game charity marathon I participated in titled 24 Hours to Play With Your Food. Fundraisers are held throughout the year and culminate in the 24-hour marathon. That first year, we raised $14,000 for Souls Harbour Rescue Mission here in Regina, Saskatchewan, a local organization that provides services such as a soup kitchen, men's and women's shelters, a free clothing store, and addictions counselling. I noted on the VIDEO GAME thread that I was participating in a Backlog Attack--an effort to get through some of the games that have been building up in my inventory. With Humble Bundles, sick multiple platforms, and an actual job that people pay me money for; I am officially spoiled for choice with respect to my gaming hobby.

  About four years ago there was a great blog post by Ancient_of_MuMu called The Moustaches of Sci-Fi Calender. I'm not going to do a calendar. I could force another seven characters onto the list, but frankly the eye-patch look is harder to pull off than you might think. So I'm going with the Top 5.

4.2 Pounds That's what the ASL rulebook weighs. Now it says something that you can use a measurement of weight to describe a rule book but when you consider that the pages that make up those 4.2 pounds are large and contain two columns of very small print you are taking it to a whole new level.

Sometimes, smaller is better. Like bullet holes. But, with this troubling trend towards smaller and quicker games, I have to point out that sometimes, smaller is NOT better. Like this.
