WarriorElite to release first in a series of
alternative tactical games mid October

Games company WarriorElite is set to launch their first alternative tactical game - War for Edadh (pronounced ed-ath), a game of battle - via their website in the early part of October this year.

Game creators, brothers Nigel and Lloyd Pyne, have spent over 10 years creating the game and getting it ready for market, drawing on a lifetime's experience of playing hobby games. It was when they first started making up their own rules to other people's games that first sparked a genuine desire to create tactical games that they felt could be a valuable contribution to the popular gaming market. A new and unique world has been created by the brothers to fire up the imagination and encourage strategic thinking - all the artwork has been kept in-house and was done by Lloyd Pyne.

Now the game has been through final and extensive play-testing they are set to launch. Nigel Pyne explained the evolution of their game, "The idea of playing a battle or wargame always had massive appeal to us but the investment in miniatures and the time required to paint them proved too much of a barrier for us. We've worked hard to provide games that are tactical and fun to play, have depth and longevity and really believe that this first release - War for Edadh - is a viable alternative to tabletop battle games".

The company intends to initially offer the game for sale via their website – http://www.warriorelite.com/ - which has been specifically designed to immerse the player in the World of Edadh and there will follow a series of non-random expansion packs to build armies with the introduction of further warring factions and troop types. In the meantime, the brothers are working on future games releases.   

Ares Games announces the first expansion for War of the Ring Second Edition--Lords of Middle-earth will focus on some of the most powerful characters appearing in "The Lord of the Rings", and is scheduled to release in September, 2012

‘War Unleashed’ Available for Pre-Order

War Unleashed is now available to pre-order direct from WarriorElite’s website and will be available in stores towards the end of April 2010 – MSRP 13.99 GBP.

War Unleashed introduces large battlefields to the War for Edath game where strategy in deployment and out-manoeuvring the enemy is key. Rules for battle deployment, movement, fighting, support units and rear attacking are included in the book and a library of battlefields will be made available free to download from www.warriorelite.com. Gamers can just download, print and have a battlefield instantly set up.

War Unleashed also includes rules for running a campaign within a region of the fantasy world of Edath. Players can compete for domination in the region and over time can increase the abilities and levels of their troops, champions, etc.

War Unleashed also releases the full potential of champions and leaders in the game and gives players the chance to turn lost rounds into wins!

Finally, War Unleashed contains details on the world of Edath itself – its warring factions, history, supernatural, magic and more.

144 fully illustrated pages plus 8 colour plates. To play the War Unleashed rules, gamers just require a copy of the base set – War for Edath (aka. War for Edadh).

War Unleashed will be supported with regular additions to the library of battlefields together with many set scenarios and battle reports. Plus free to print Stratagem Cards!

 Wizkids has released two editions of Relic which are in stores now.

Rodeo Games today announces a partnership with Games Workshop® to bring their classic game of dungeon adventure in the Warhammer world, Warhammer Quest, to iPhone & iPad in 2013.

Warhammer Quest will be a universal app sold exclusively via the Apple App Store. The team at Rodeo Games is working towards a Q2 2013 launch, but will be presenting an early version of the game during Games Workshop’s UK Games Day at the Birmingham NEC on Sunday 23rd September.

In 2018, the two player game Fox in the Forest brought back Trick Taking games in a big way. Magicians everywhere hated it. They have since breathed a sigh of relief as the game faded from BGG’s hotness.

But this reprieve is short lived.

This "Earth Reborn" teaser has appeared on the Z-man website, with no more information than the promise of more news in next month's newsletter. This month's news letter had Earth Reborn listed as scheduled for 2010. Is this game Z? Let the speculation begin!

“Star Trek changed the way people think about the future,” said WizKids/NECA President Lax Chandra. “We are thrilled at the opportunity to marry our innovative game design and exceptional miniatures with the incredibly richStar Trekfranchise.  We believe HeroClix and the Star Trek Universe are ideally suited for cooperative gaming and table top miniature simulation and will speak to gamers in a new and compelling way.”

The first WizKids/NECAStar Trek game will release around Christmas, 2010 with additional expansions to follow.

Unconfirmed Rumor - Games being developed include a cooperative game using Star Trek characters with clix bases and a space battle game using ships with clix bases.

(January 18, 2011-Hillside NJ) - Wizkids announced today the addition of "The Lord of the Rings" property to their 2011 HeroClix release schedule through a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. The first products of the new "The Lord of the Rings" line will be a HeroClix miniatures game followed by a HeroClix strategic board game, both of which will release in the back half of 2011.
