I plan on sleeving all my stickers and photographing the components so that instead of touching them we can all just look at the pictures on my phone.

I know a lot about this game now (don't ask because I'm not saying shit, period) and this is an autobuy. I'm not even a big "Risk" guy, to be honest, because so many other DoaM games do things a lot better, in a lot shorter time, but this is a must-have due to its intrinsic nature.

My Hasbro guy is gone, so I get no more review copies from there (one was it!), and for me to buy this...it has to be good because I'm broke as fuck. Mama going through school now...ugh.

Anyhow, the magic is that the persistent world is truly persistent. It's akin to blowing up Megaton in Fallout 3. There's shit you can never do because you do X or something Y happens in the game. New things open up, others are lost forever. The naming of the "world" isn't all that whoopdie-doo, but the fact that it is truly an ongoing war gives it an RPG feel. Very cool shit.

And I'm with Frank. I'm throwing the shit in the fireplace, never to be seen. I don't want to know what I'm missing out on because in this universe, if you don't cause it to happen, it was never there.

As an unapologetic Rob Daviau fanboy, and having now read the rules (and seeing the spaces for more) I'm extremely excited for this one.

You really need to play this 5-10 times to get the feel for it. The bits and art are OUT-FUCKING-STANDING. The games are far shorter than the usual 6-hour Riskfest that most Risk versions are notable for.

There's 4 packs of cards that can't be opened until somthing happens in-game, and these things don't happen until well into several (maybe 10, for one pack) games.

Will report. Got a VERY pre-release copy.

Doubtful. If he wants my copy when I'm done, and can accept that there's cities called "Craquilonia" and "The Cuntdome" labelled thereon, that's fine. I doubt this one will be given away, not because I don't want to, but because once I've played it 15 times, that's it.

The game is WAY shorter than Risk normally is, though. 45-75 minutes per game. It's not all about "fuck up all comers", it's more objective based.

Wow, if that is what you called your cities, I shudder to think what Ken's cities will be called!

Don't worry, there's already a planned Averyville and Weeks Woods. :)

I still think this might go ok as the average family game. Lots of family games are disposable - how many times will you get stumped by the same question in Trivial Pursuit? And families likely will play a game 20 or so times. This would be a fun game to buy for a cottage.

How awesome would it be to have a version of Power Grid you could destroy after every game though.

Alas, not marketed to families.

That's been my question all along. The game may be very interesting, but if it isn't found by the interested people it won't sell. 30 years ago they'd advertise a game like this on television, but that may be too pricey these days.

I think the print run on this is pretty small - the owner of my FLGS said it's an Alliance exclusive. I don't think selling out of this one will be a concern. In fact, I'm wondering if a second copy will be available later if I don't pick it up right away.
