Star Wars: Epic Duels has very nice components and is really fun. It combines the best elements of a CCG and a small-unit tactics game, sacrificing only a little depth. We couldn't just play once, the four of us played this one all day long. Unfortunately, the owner of the game moved away soon after, and I haven't played since. It is a damn dirty shame that this excellent standalone game went out of print, to be replaced by another cynical, money-grabbing collectible miniatures game. I would rate this game a 6, except that I have to give it a -1 for having a Star Wars theme. I loved the first two movies, but everything since The Empire Strikes Back only inspires loathing.

I had the pleasure of playing this game only once in college, the guy in the apartment next time mine had it. He'd just go down the halls on Sunday night recruiting people to play it and people would come flocking. Nobody was a 'gamer' by any means, I wasn't even then.

We mixed up the characters and dealt them all out and broke up into two teams. There was no 'Dark Side vs. Light Side' or 'New Movies vs. Old Movies' it was just a free for all. I thought it was pretty fun and a blast to play.

I'd pick it up in a heartbeat if I came across it cheap, but paying $60 for it? No thanks.

I find it strange that this game has become a hot commodity.

I find it stranger that Betrayal at House on the Hill is as equally hot. Epic Duels is a fun game with Star Wars collectibility. BOHH is just a mess.

I prefer Royal Rumble rules to Epic Duels. Everyone starts with a random card - no teams/everyone for themselves. When you kill a figure you take it off the board and put it in front of you. When all your figures are dead you get a new card. Play continues until all the cards have been used and only one player remains - that player gets his surviving figure(s) and includes them in his pile. Whoever has the most figures wins.

Chaotic, and it also deters the "kill Vader and leave the guy with just two Storm Troopers" sucky situation...let's see...try to focus on Vader, or get some easy kills taking out his minions. Chop chop!

My wife loves this game (which is odd considering she isn't really into Star Wars). Of course, that may be because she always takes Vader so she can mess with my head (does she have "All Too Easy" in her hand or not?). Fun game, but I don't know if I would pay today's asking prices for it or not (ok I would, but I'm glad I don't have to).
