It's also very good with 3 players, but with 4 it's pretty pointless. You're dividing the Free People and one player gets all the races which don't have much fighting going on: dwarves, elves and the humans living in the North (don't know how they're called). The FP also have to coordinate their actions so much that it all should just be handled by one player. The problem with War of the Ring is that he said it's only good as a 2-player game and I rarely get the opportunity to play 2-player games with anyone other than my fiancee.

With the announcement of Android, I'm sure to get something from Kevin Wilson this Christmas, as my games wishlist looks like this:
1) Android
2) Cosmic Encounter
3) Friedrich
4) Twilight Struggle
5) Titan
6) Arkham Horror: Black Goat
I know my girlfriend will instantly disregard Friedrich and Twilight Struggle by looking at the covers. Most likely she'll pick Android, and I'll be very happy if she does.

I feel you. This christmas is honestly all about video games (Gears, Fable 2, FIFA, NHL, some other good stuff) for me. There are a couple of board games I have preordered that I really want (Angola, All Things Zombie) and I'm interested in Battlestar Galactica. But that's really it and I'm not sure I really need Battlestar Galactica. I might not get any boardgames this christmas, which is the first time that's happened since I entered the hobby 3-4 years ago.

This christmas is actually going to be very little about video games for me. There's not really anything out for Wii that I want and though there's lots of stuff for DS, I honestly haven't picked up my DS for several months.
Android though, that might make my wishlist. Though I wish you could play it with two-players.

I wish Valley Games had Republic of Rome coming soon, I'm definitely thinking about getting that after seeing the beautiful Titan reprint.

I don't think I'll ask for any games to be gifted to me. I'll probably just order them for myself as it becomes fiscally defensible.
Since I've been teaching myself Paths of Glory lately, I've asked for a couple of WWI books (Tuchman and Keegan) to go with Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle that I got for my birthday. I might get some clothing odds-and-ends that my wife wants me to have. The only big ticket item I'd like is a replacement iPod (my 4th gen finally died a couple months back after nearly 4 years of noble service).
Games that are on my watchlist for possible acquisition in the first months of 2009:
Conflict of Heroes (I have no experience with squad level games, so I'm still mulling it over)
For the People
Shifting Sands (on the fence)
Android (will wait to see further information come out)
Already preordered:
Washington's War
Wilderness War
Kingdom of Heaven
Also, I'm pretty much convinced that I'm going to cave on the way home and buy Titan at the local store. My wife got to buy a bunch of crap at IKEA for organizing her craft room, so that makes it OK, right??

Shifting Sands is decent but I personally would go with something else. It hasn't really deteriorated in my mind... it just has a lot of awesome competition if I want to play a CDG. Though it is a lot shorter than most epic CDGs--but if I'm going to play a short CDG right now I'll just turn to TS or something.
