Cosmic Encounter: Never played it before, rules sound basic but that could be a good thing. Chance of grabbing it: 75%

I have never played this either and read through the rules last night. Not sure I'm entirely "getting" the game from the rules. Think I need to see some of the cards to figure out how the game actually plays. I'm guessing the interest comes from the negotiation and alliance-making aspects.

Agree, if it didn't have the rep it has I would probably be thinking it sounds shit via the rules.
But there is obviously more to it than it seems.

You have to experience Cosmic Encounter. The rules reveal nothing. The game is about the alliances, negotiations and the way powers and cards interact with each other. It's very chaotic. It's the kind of game where there are equal amounts of laughing and flipping each other off.

CE is one of those classic "better when taught" games.

I'm sure you "get" the rules and mechanics just fine. But seeing them in action from, say, three other veteran players is what will make the lightbulb go off over your head.

I pre-ordered CE for $8 over the weekend.

Amazon is taking pre-orders for $37 and change. This qualifies for their $25+ = free shipping policy. They were also running a deal where if you sign up for their credit card they'll give you $30 credit. I took advantage of that offer and will be closing the CC as soon as my game arrives.

Sweet deal! It's worth looking into as the cc deal may still be running.

If you haven't already seen it, there is a fucking amazingly in-depth review of Android on TOS with some references to FAT.
