What’s your Ameritrash Resolution for 2009?

For me 2008 will be remembered as the year I traded my dusty, unloved, only played twice copy of Puerto Rico for Arkham Horror. Since that trade last spring, I’ve added every expansion of Arkham Horror except Dark Pharaoh and I’ve played the game about dozen times with at least 20 different people. Before the trade I had only played the game twice and I had it rated as a 6 on BGG. After each play I bumped up my rating. Now I have it rated as a 10. After reading Barnes review of Android, I hope Android will follow similar pattern of increased liking after each play as Arkham Horror.

KingPut’s Top 10 Played Ameritrash Games in 2008:
1. Arkham Horror 10-15 plays
2. Shadow Hunters 10-15 plays
3 StarCraft 5-10 plays
4. Ti3 5-10 plays
5. Last Night on Earth 5-10 plays
6. Cash n’ Guns 5-10 plays
7. Battle Ball 5-10 plays
8. BattleStar Galactica 5-10 plays
9. Wings of War 5-10 plays
10. War of the Ring 4 plays

New Years Resolution for 2009

If 2008 was the year of Arkham Horror, I’d like 2009 to be the year of the Ameritrash multiplayer conflict game and the card driven war game. So here’s my top 10 New Year Resolutions for 2009:

1. Play Here I Stand. I’ve scheduled a game in January with Igannaditty and others
2. Play Twilight Struggles. I’m scheduled to play in January
3. Netflix old classic war movies. I’ve scene the modern war movies Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Saving Private Ryan but I want to see the old movies like Paths of Glory and All Quiet on the Western Front.
4. Get StarCraft or Ti3 on the table once a month
5. Play 1936, Sword of Rome and other card driven war games.
6. Don’t GM Caylus or run any official event at any convention
7. Play Conan
8. Play Android, Space Alert, Ghost Stories and FFG's Cosmic Encounter
9. Avoid playing Dominion or Agricola as much as possible
10. Make sure there’s enough beer and whisky at Trashfest and WBC this year.

So what's your Ameritrash New Years Resolution????

I think that you will be able to do most of this before the end of 2008.

For me, 2008 was the year of the co-op. So far I've tried BSG, Pandemic, Ghost Stories and Space ALert. I wanted to get Red November on the table but it's sold out everywhere so it looks like it will have to wait.

In 2009 I'd like to get some of my AT and wargames on the table more often. High on my list is Starcraft, Dune, Fortress America, the Operational Combat Series from MMP (Tunisia, DAK, Case Blue, Burma, etc) and the Musket & Pike series from GMT. It's looking like I will have the last week in May free so I might be able to attend the Comsimworld Expo in Tempe, AZ. Six days to get my wargamer groove on is sounding good.

My resolution is to finally get a full Descent: Road to Legend campaign completed! I doubt it'll happen, but I'd be happy with at least getting out of Copper.

My AT resolutions are to try to find (or found) an AT-minded game group.

I'd love to try TI3, Android, a monster wargame, Cosmic Encounter, Successors & Here I Stand, Bonaparte at Marengo & Napoleon's Triumph to name a few.

I'd like to try to play more games, like Twilight Struggle, online or by pbem (right now it's only Titan).

Try to get my ass in gear to finish my review of "Dead of Night" for FAT (i think I'm two years behind).

Just play my stack of purchased games from 2008: Twilight Struggle,BSG, Titan, AGOT (SoS), Cutthroat Caverns, AH w/ the Black Goat expansion, Perudo & WotR w/3rd Age expansion

Watch The Wire, Rome, BSG 2nd season, The Sopranos& more seminal films from America's last great era (mid-sixties to mid-seventies).

Read anything about WW2 or Napoleon.

My big resolutions are to complete my AT boardgame prototype by the end of January, playtest it as much as possible before spring, and start shopping it around over the summer.

Oh yeah, and like the barefoot killer said: buy less. I've dropped way too much $$$ on games over the past six months.

I want to put together a regular AT gaming group and play a whole lot more than I do now.

And I think 2009 will be the year of the expansion for me as I pick up the expansions for Tide of Iron, Warrior Knights, Prophecy (I live in hope), Dungeon Twister and Last Night on Earth.

Read the book instead. If the English translation is even halfway acceptable, you'll be enthralled.

My resolutions are:

- Play more TI3. I've got my friends hooked on games, and have built the gaming group I've always wanted. Now I just need to get them to branch out a bit more. Dammit, if they want to play Munchkin they have to humor me with a real game first.

- Paint my new mechs. I'm digging Classic Battletech right now, even if the rules definitely come from the Old Aesthetic.

- Find out where Anders has his orgies.
