Now you need to accidentally buy an Immortals box.
Man, I HATE painting the Tau Pathfinders! Those models blow...the current reboot batch looks better (Tau Sept colors) than the first but still...detail is crappy on then unless you paint the thinnest layers possible.
Eldar on the other hand are turning out to be fun to paint. Love the white and green.

I also discovered during this match that the rokkit launcha doesn't use a template. I think I'm going to remove it from my list, because that makes it a lot less fun. I do love the model, though.

Done. You're what is known as a "bad influence."

4 Inmortals with Tesla Carbines and gear is almost default at 1k unless you want to do something with Deathmarks. I guess Warriors are good in campaign when you need a new body but don't have the 40 points to grade up to an Immortal.
They have very little weapon variety but they get cool stuff like Mindshackle Scarabs and Shadow looms. I love the Deathmarks. Reanimation Protocol is great but I think they overvalued it in working out the points for the faction.
Overall, I like Necrons and I like playing with them...but I'm a "rule of cool" player. If I were serious about it I wouldn't choose them over Harlequins or Tyranids.
I bought an el cheapo loose lot of Warriors on eBay, just like 8 of them...and I have yet to even build them.

I guess variety of aliens and races and availability/ease of models would be the main reasons. Are there any strictly game play reasons that Shadow War is superior?

But subjectively some people may prefer the shorter mini campaign style of shadow war.
I'm torn on that myself. I like resolving a campaign over a weekend, but I dislike the lack of granularity that shadow war has in comparison to necromunda/gorkamorka.
But shadow war is a lot more swingy stat wise than necro/gorka. Which seemed to be a criticism of necro/gorka was that gangs were very samey. This isn't as true in shadow war.

And it's a really great game- I wouldn't call it simple, and it is actually pretty old fashioned...but there's really a lot of detail and potential in it for some stupendous, narrative gameplay.
The 40k setting- bona fide, not the old gangs- is a major selling point. You can "get into Warhammer" with this game with a $20-$50 outlay. Which is SUPER cheap for miniature games. And there is a pretty wide variety of KTs to explore.
But yeah, I think the best reason to get into it is that it's a more approachable, compact 40k.
