Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
So. Many. THINGS. (Who Goes There? x 4)
I don't know what's in the zeitgeist, but we seemingly have FOUR games that address the subject matter. Please. Share your your thoughts if one may be better.
1. The Thing. A print and play with caps from the film. It's been on my radar for many years, but I've never bothered to make a copy.

2. The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31. Due for publication this year.

3. Who Goes There? A well polished Kickstarter for a game that bills itself as a homage to the source material, but clearly relies on the Carpenter interpretation.

4. Dark Moon. Yes, I know this is BSG Express reskinned. But the theme is The Thing. I own a copy and it has never reached the table. Honestly, I think the illustrations are rubbish. But oddly, the graphics are exceptional.

Is Panic Station any good? I've never played, and reviews for it seem all over the place.

Charlie, I know you're a huge 'The Thing' fan. What do you think of this new Kickstarter (Who Goes There) ?

Man, I really dislike the art style. It reminds me of Team Fortress which just doesn't fit how I view The Thing. That is enough to get me to not to buy in.

The artwork is a bit light for my tastes, though it certainly appears polished. I'm struggling with the price point, and the play time. It seems that miniatures will be included shortly as a "stretch goal" - but miniatures really do seem superfluous. My bigger problem is play time. I seem to think Dark Moon consistently clocks in under 60 minutes. That's about as much time as I want to invest in a social deduction alien traitor game. Who Goes There? goes past that time, and I don't know if I wanna roll with that...

The MONDO Thing looks like the better game, but I'm still waiting to see more information.
I've played both BSG Dice and Dark Moon. I liked them okay, but not nearly as much as I was expecting to. Probably with a more AT crowd it might have been more fun.

It's as good and unbiased a review as you're going to find. We loved it. A few logical leaps were needed (why are androids not armed) as I recall but nothing too bad
Lots of guys used it as their "build street cred with a wildly unfair review, without publisher retribution" game to review. Or it feels like that.
