Cyclades as a base game may not be lack with conflict in the sense of “my dudes attack your dudes,” but the thing about that game that may not be without playing it is that every aspect of that game’s design is cutthroat. Yeah, the game is fueled by auction, but those auction mechanics have a mean streak to them. The monsters can be total jerks, too. And as much praise as I pile upon Nexus Ops, Cyclades has my favorite dice driven combat in all of gaming. It’s so simple, but the dice only going from 0-3 can create some really dramatic moments as the guy that’s outnumbered might still have a chance if the other guy doesn’t have quite enough troops and starts throwing 0s.

As an aside, I actually hate the combat mechanics in Kemet. It’s similar to A Game of Thrones, but without the extra drama going on in that game, the combat in Kemet never feels satisfying.

FWIW, I’ve never played Cyclades with the Titans expansion and it’s still a top 10 of all time for me. I have Hades, which I like, but the base game was constantly getting played long before any expansions came along.

If you are at all interested in looking into other possibilities, I would suggest 1812: Invasion of Canada, or 1775: Rebellion. They are excellent games and the age recommendation is 10+ (whereas the other games you are considering are 13+ and 14+ for good reason). A bright 9 year old could definitely play either without any problem, and there is enough going on for it to be challenging and engaging for adults. And since you can play in teams, it evens things out quite a bit.

After i saw many more videos the last hours, i m really close to order Kemet as i think Blood Rage doesn't seem to fit our needs. As for Cyclades, in my honest opinion Titan is a must and game needs it desperately from start, which makes it much better but also much more expensive (85 euros) than i would like for the specific game.
On the other hand Kemet looks solid without any expansions, just the base game and also seems to be close to our needs, so i think for the price (49 euros) looks, at least at the moment, as the best option.
