About that while cyberpunk thing not being marketable....hell no. Neuromancer, System Shock, Bioshock(s), Shadowrun....I mean c’mon. There’s a huge market.

Fucking zombies and Cthulhu sell and it’s been basically the same game for 20 years, just with new art and a few new mechanics.

And compare that to how many horror, zombie, fantasy, generic sci-fi games?

Bioshock is hardly cyberpunk, and that's the only truly blockbuster title among those you've said. It's more like retro steam-punk, underwater-punk, or even horror. You hack by matching pipes, ffs.

The only comparable title would be the Deus Ex franchise, and probably Watch Dogs. WW2, contemporary, sci-fi and fantasy themes still reign supreme.

It's a market wide open, but why is nobody taking it (with the exception of upcoming CDPR Cyberpunk 2077)???

(and yea, RP1 was a cyberpunk movie, but that's not why anyone's watching the movie...)

Oh, I’m not saying it’s Zombies or Cthulhu, I’m saying there’s a market.

Most games sell under 3,000 copies....if there’s a place for SEAL Team Flix, there’s room for a cyberpunk game.

Dude, there are several major franchise release for military shooter genre almost every year. Military shooter is highly marketable, not sure why board gaming doesn't pick it up any sooner. The wargaming folks got some, but nothing on the mainstream market. So, brilliant piece of theme/mechanic integration there.

the setting is fine, its the games that were lacking. Only Netrunner was very good.

I'd disagree to a certain extent. I think Infiltration is a great game and I think New Angeles works well with the right group of people. But that is certainly a drawback, since anyone who isn't used to sometime tough negotiation is going to feel out of their element. However, that's also a key aspect of games like Rising Sun, Dune, and Diplomacy, so I don't know that it's that high a bridge to expect. However, I have said before that one of the things that keeps me from considering Dune to be one of the best ever games is that it does, in fact, require the right group of people.

Whatever its merits, I think we can safely say that the Android setting is either dead or due for some unlikely but not impossible reboot. Android itself is out of print and has been since May 2018. Mainframe is listed as awaiting reprint since December 2017. New Angeles was blown out last year on FFG's sale. Infiltration's not on the reprint list.

FFG is releasing an Android setting book for their generic Genesys RPG system, so they haven’t given up on it entirely—not super optimistic about its board game future, though.

Wild guess? Android returns as a reskinned Arkham Horror LCG. Plenty of named characters for players to take on, a setting with a foundation in investigating and, most importantly, many existing art assets.

I don't think New Angeles works particularly well, in my eyes it is a broken design and failed ambition (though great idea)

Infiltration I found mediocre, no one who learned it seemed to be clamoring for more plays

Android board game itself was actually quite charming, but very niche appeal, but better than the other two
