Yeah, I was sitting here wondering why board games seem to get grief for tackling the same subjects that video games tackle. Do the Rainbow Six devs get grief on the daily? Probably. But you don't see such a furor, like you do with board games.
SU&SD (and Quinns in particular) tries to address any possible "problem" ahead of its viewers because they get ripped into if they don't. It's a weird dynamic. Sometimes it's little things like this. Sometimes he unintentionally makes a huge political statement (like the time he said that all female Muslim characters should be depicted with headscarfs for "authenticity") in the process and people have to rein him in. Don't stress too much on it.
Those guys sort of dropped off of my valid reviewers radar after they sort of capriciously slagged on some games that get great reviews on this site, like Theseus: the Dark Orbit. It felt like they wanted to be funny more than they wanted to be accurate.
I like SUSD pretty well, they've improved in the last year or so, but I know my tastes in games are so vastly different as to just make it entertainment for me rather than advice.

Same. But I think it's always been that way for me since day one watching them.
Entertaining, but falls well short of deep expose on games.
What they need to be truly relevant, is a knowledgeable writer to supplement their entertainment value. They've never had that, so I wouldn't sweat taking them too seriously.
I didnt watch it so I can't comment on whether they liked it or the ramifications of the virtue signaling complaint about differences between male and female characters.
I will say this, it's now the most widely exposed game made by any of the contributors to this site ever. So congrats on that. I hope it boosts sales and in the end gives you guys the opportunity to make more games.
They like vastly lighter games than I do in general and the heavy games they do like often seem like a drag to me.
They also tend to love cute games. And by that, I don't mean the aesthetic, but rather games that have like a single cute mechanic or component. Don't have much to support it but it's a general feeling I have.
