New Sigmar Skirmish Rules

I know this is high church GW stuff that no one really cares about, but over the last two White Dwarfs they've been overwriting the rules for old Skirmish in a way I really like. Usable units are bought in a more logical way. What's more, there's a diversity to list building that was missing before. All for the cost of a couple of issues of White Dwarf.

The lack of list building diversity, the confusing rules drip, and the sheer expense of keeping up has kept me from fully endorsing Kill Team to my friends. For Sigmar skirmish, I would be very pleased if they just stuck with this rules-light, low-overhead, go-for-it approach. I dread the inevitable 160-dollar-boxed-set-plus-90-dollar-rule-updates that's eventually going to bury this fun and totally servicable ruleset in an avalanche of crap.

Now I just have to find someone to play it with me.

Changes below are quoted from TGA Community link: www.tga.community/forums/topic/20964-jan...mish-book-from-2017/

--You can use any models in the line, including stuff like Nagash and Forgeworld.
--In Matched Play, it only goes to 250 renown, so stuff like Nagash won't come into play there.
--The above should make for some really cool narrative stuff. (Small band of Freeguild vs a Mournghul... etc... )
--Everything is pointed based on a formula. Champion "models" like Primes, Sergeants, etc.. have an added cost.
-- everything is still only Grand Alliances. No factions specific allegiance abilities yet.
--Table size is 30" x 40"
--No summoning. No Realm of Battle. No Endless Spells.
--Command points and abilities are IN, but command abilities that affect Battleshock are disabled.
--Five Battleplans Jan issue. (A campaign in the Realm of Metal appeared in Feb issue)
--Last and maybe most importantly is the Formation rule that limits the scope of warscroll abilities. --

See, I would rather they go full Kill Team and release a major product line for Age of Sigmar skirmish. Even with the revisions to the existing skirmish from the first General's Handbook, it still feels like a sort of half-assed way to do a low model count game. I'd love to see the terrain sets and starters like in 40k Kill Team, and I would be much more inclined to go all-in on it. This just doesn't feel like it's a committed, supported system. It feels very fan-made, as did the original skirmish rules.

Let's face it. What should happen is a Mortal Realms version of Mordheim, cleaned up and polished with AOS 2.0 rules as a basis.

I don't know, I kind of think too that Shadespire/Nightvault satisfies me for low model count Age of Sigmar. And there's also Frostgrave in this space, which I think is more fun than AOS skirmish.

Speaking of which, I just got an advance of the new Frostgrave book and...there are a bunch of scenarios written by GW folks!
