Card games for traditional card game players?

My in-laws play a ton (frequency-wise) of traditional card games like Cribbage, Hearts, and Three-Handed Whist. Are there any basic card games out there that are of a similar complexity? I'd like to have some more options to change things up occasionally, but they aren't really interested in anything more complex.

Pretty much everything from Grandpa Becks Games. See my review of antiquity quest for a starting point.

If they have never played SETBACK PITCH, you should teach that to them. It's a great game and fun as hell in teams or cutthroat. It just uses the minor arcana plain old deck. I can send a little primer if you want. We used to play for nickels with my gramma; she was goddamned card sharp.

I think TICHU has a fervent following among card players. It's a solid game, needs a special deck though.

Second the Tichu suggestion. It's very much like traditional card games.

I might have been vague in what I'm looking for. A card game of the board game variety that does not use a standard deck of cards. But I suppose traditional game suggestions work as well.

I'll check out some of the ones mentioned. Keep 'em coming.

Wizard uses a nonstandard deck, though it's just a regular deck with added wizards and jesters.

Keep an eye out for The Crew: Quest For Planet Nine , coming out this year sometime. It's a cooperative truck taking game that looks really neat.

I'll second/third the suggestion for Wizard. Fairly standard trick taking/bidding game with a nice twist via the two extra card types (wizards and jesters).

My friend ordered Die Crew from Germany before it sold out and it is absolutely fantastic! Cooperative mission-based trick taking. Everyone is working together (w/very limited communication) to get certain players to win tricks with certain cards in them. Really keeps everyone on their toes. Can't wait to play some more. Definitely grab it when Kosmos releases it in the US.

One of the best investments a card game group can make is a RAGE deck. This used to be at Target in the Fundex (PHASE 10) section. RAGE is just complicated WHIST, but the best thing about the deck is that it is six suits of 16 with extras. You can make pretty much every damn game with that many cards.

Back to the topic at hand—one of the best board games for these groups is TICKET TO RIDE, which is basically RUMMY with a board.

If just sticking to cards, think about CASINO too. The rut might not be the equipment, necessarily, it might just be the kinds of games they play. If it's all trick-taking, mix in stuff like CASINO for a new game experience.

Looking at my card games that I would bring to a group like this:
PHASE 10 (snoozer)
TICHU
BOHNANZA (? maybe, kind of annoying to teach)
BANG! (again, can be annoying to teach)
WIZARD
SAN JUAN
LOVE LETTER (!)
TWITCH (rewards youth)

CASINO was the exact traditional game I was going to recommend. Jeb's on it!
