Best Hidden Movement Games OTHER than Fury of Dracula

I've always loved hidden movement games, but I feel like I'm close to calling it my favorite genre. We've talked FoD into the ground, so I want know which other hidden movement games everyone likes. I own and have played Jaws, Whitehall Mystery, Escape From the Aliens In Outer Space, Last Friday and Lifeform (which kind of counts). I'm not sure which one out of those I like best, but it might have to be Whitehall Mystery. I also own Specter Ops and Hunt For the Ring but haven't played them yet.

Really, the only hidden movement game I've ever parted ways with was Letters From Whitechapel, which was a little dry for my tastes. Otherwise, it's the one genre that seems to have earned infinite shelf space for me. I love the ones I own dearly and they all do things differently enough that I'm fascinated by all of them.

I own Hunt for the Ring and I enjoyed it. We played 2 player son versus me. I liked how you play one side of the board with movement dictated by the hobbits player. Then you switch to other side where movement is dictated by a movement card and then use Gandalf to lure the Nazgul away. It's a longer game and if you can't finish in one session, it's easy to stop play and put everything into an envelope (provided in game box and meant to be like envelope Gandalf puts the Ring in in the books) and bring out later. You can use the results of Hunt for the Ring and use them in War of the Ring but I have not done that.

Another hidden movement game is Duel in the Dark (2nd edition) . It's a nighttime bombing mission where the British player plots a path to the city before the game starts for your bombing mission. German player tries to find where you are at and where you're going during your bombing raid to and get as many hits on you as they can, with fuel rationing being a key component. Weather plays a part and expansions add some complexity and extra stuff. I've only played base version and it's been a few years since I've played it. Need to pull this off my shelf again.

DitD may be a stretch to call it hidden movement but I think it hits the criteria. if you get it, get second edition as it has all expansions included.

Whitehall Mystery and Jaws for me. But I have not played a ton of them.

Duel in the Dark is underrated.

The upcoming Sniper Elite game is worth keeping an eye on.

Specter Ops is right up there with FoD for me.

Yeah, thirding SPECTER OPS, that's a good game. CLUE: GREAT MUSEUM CAPER is good. I even like SCOTLAND YARD.

Go old school. Go Scotland Yard.

For a fun deviation on hidden movement, seek out a copy of Murder She Wrote (1985).

Sniper Elite has potential. Another one I'd like to check out is Narcos. That one came and went.

Clue Museum Caper is great.

Wasnt a fan of They Come Unseen but that does bring up the SONAR family of games, which I dig.

I'm a big fan of Letters from Whitechapel. With a good Jack, it is a very good exercise in deduction.


I hadn't have thought of Duel in the Dark initially, but I'll throw my hat behind it as I saw it mentioned up thread. I do enjoy the game. It has gorgeous components populating a beautiful map as well. It does not get to the table enough.

Count me among the fans of Clue: The Museum Caper. It's been ages since I've played it, but it used to be quite a favorite. Plus, it should be pretty cheap to pick up.

Another underrated gem is 2 de Mayo. It's a two-player game about revolutionaries in Madrid. Great game in a small package.

I really like how it's both a competition to steal the most paintings as well as being a 1-vs.-all (provided you're playing multiple times per session to give everyone a turn as the thief).

I only played Gunslinger once, and that was 25 years ago, but I vaguely remember that it had an interesting hidden movement system that allowed all players to potentially use hidden movement.
