Monolith took an interesting approach. While I applauded their sincerity, it was the campaign itself that sunk the ship.
It sucked. A confusing, bloated mess that hardly any one asked for - or wanted.
I'm an unabashed fan and supporter of Monolith. I own a lot of their games and enjoy most of them. I bet I would enjoy them more if I had regular skirmish players. Alas, I spend most of my time with their titles by painting the plastic crack. The models are consistently stunning.
Anyway...
I, and seemingly a lot of other people, read through the "Beyond the Monolith" KS, and said, "WTF?" We wanted more Conan, and 'Beyond the Monolith" was not that.

So after they pulled the plug on "Beyond the Monolith", Monolith spent six weeks retooling the campaign into a genuine Conan project. And it funded. Lickety split.

Who ever made the call to NOT use Conan should be nailed to the Tree if Woe. The answer is NEVER not conan!

And i love that they snuck in not Red Sonja :p

Threadomancy!

CMON's stock has once again been suspended ( www.aastocks.com/en/stocks/news/aamm-news/AAS25040130766/1 ) from the Hong Kong exchange for failing to produce 2024's financials by the deadline of March 31st. They already put out a public statement to their investors about the loss that said financials are going to show and have apparently told the exchange that the inability to produce them on time is because of "staffing issues." Given that most firms of any size use accounting firms to produce those kinds of statements, that probably means that they can't pay said accountant's bill to get the statements, which means their cash flow situation could be even more dire than most expect (not that an ending price yesterday of $.02/share would have told you otherwise.)

As noted in one of our other threads, they have a long list of unfinished projects from KS campaigns ( www.cmon.com/project-status/#crowdfunding ), as well as pre-orders ( www.cmon.com/project-status/#pre-order ) so it's a pretty grim horizon at the moment.

Yikes... I hope I receive the Masters of the Universe box of power they owe me. They are proofing it and I don't know if the plastics have been produced yet, so they could probably decide to screw me out of it if they wanted.

Yeah, they have a credit line of $4m, which means they still have leeway with the banks and it is possible to argue that the suspension of trading is just an administrative issue, rather than a crime or outright financial disaster. But it wasn't a crime last time, either. The auditors had concerns. CMON said those concerns were overblown and managed to make their case to the exchange. Since then, things have just gotten rockier for them in a $ sense and the long view says they went full steam ahead on KS to basically try to beat the boulder until they could escape the tomb (Indy!) But that's a long way of saying "kiting checks" on KS, which is what a lot of people have suspected in recent years, anyway.

Like you, I'm on the hook for Dark Providence, for which they are also "proofing files" in anticipation of a 2nd quarter release, which is simply not going to happen, given that we are now in said second quarter. So, I dunno.
