Made the Cut. From the designer of Dawn of the Zeds (VPG). Anyone know about this one? I hadn't heard of it before five minutes ago.

That box cover is on point but the lengthy description and especially that card art (I get that they are still working it) is why you don't let the engineer write copy and do art design.... All function and no flair :p

I like that GMT is branching out but they have a long way to go to embrace the thematic zaniness of non war games and shed the sterile aesthetic in their fantasy titles.

Yes, they are dipping their toes into a much more developed area in terms of polish and art design. It'll be a tough sell.

I am still waiting on Mystery Wizard. How long does it (covid) typically take to get p500 products?

Depends. If they just hit like 500 barely they languish for years sometimes until they eventually print. If they spike to a thousand it's a much quicker process.

I had a bit of a debate with some Internet personalities regarding the art in SpaceCorp. They landed some really nice card art and then relegated it to small sizes, emphasizing big-ass numerals surrounded by a big block of simple color. It looked to me like they had taken their prototype cards and just pasted some art on the top. They couldn’t take the intellectual step-away from what they had been working with in testing to craft something more appealing. Really a swing and a miss.

Art directors aren’t terribly expensive, though you have to work around their shifts at Starbucks. GMT needs to invest in one, even just to get sanity checks and big-picture (no double entendre intended) feedback on their decisions. They need to develop that as a core competency before Asmodee buys them. They’ll get a better price.

The game sounds like it could be fun, but I would love to see some more prototype components. I know their current board probably looks like shit, but it would, I think, give a better idea of what kind of game we're talking about than the wall of text they currently have.
