The wheel stops and . . . it's Embracer Group for 2.75 billion euros.

Before you get excited, that's only half the value of the Dallas Cowboys, just one of thirty-two teams in the NFL.

The bet is on what is held longer: Barnes with Battletech or Embracer with Asmodee.

I've seen this movie before. The last time around, it was called CCP Purchases White Wolf, and that was the beginning of the end for the World of Darkness. Embracer doesn't publish board games, so they must have some other motive that probably doesn't directly involve board games. Maybe they don't understand the tactile appeal of board games and think that they can transform the industry by moving board games into a strictly online gaming format.

I envision the glorious return of Chea Pass games, small games in envelopes, that cost $5 apiece, and can be printed locally, but this time around there's some secret genius designing them and they're amazing. Like, some combination of Cole Wehrle and Jim Felli, some kid in a garage who just grinds out amazing games until he's silenced by goons from Hasbro, never to be heard from again. Each game would come with a 3D printer file for fancy versions of components. And they'd all have subversive messages, yet still be fun for the whole family. Kind of accessible punk games. Because this is 2022, he'd have a Patreon bringing in $15k a month.

Diminished expectations is that Embracer actually owns assets that still make things and that's good by venture capital standards.

Uh, to be fair, I will be getting pre-orders of every piece of arkham LCG content in case they decide to strip the whole thing for parts and fire everyone at any given moment.

It's me, I bought Asmodee. I was drunk and hit "add to cart" not really knowing what I was doing. But anyway, I own Asmodee now. All their games are in my spare bedroom until I figure out where to go from here.

Sure, but it's probably triple the value of the Detroit Lions.

According to Forbes the Lions are worth $2.4 billion. So not triple, but definitely more, since 2.75 billion euros is equal to about $3.1 billion.

It's a rich person's world. We're all just playing in it.

In the Build-A-Guillotine-Now category comes this article -- www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/inv...-rental-foreclosure/ which shows just how viable feudalism still is. Huge corporate entities buying up all houses that come onto the market in the U.S. in order to rent them to us serfs at a profit.

At some point, Americans are going to have to start voting in their own favor, in spite of the propaganda spewing out of their television set each night.

We need to get Nate Hayden into some kind of witness protection, STAT.

Apparently nobody, until people started looking at slides from the Embracer Group presentation. Which is pretty f'ing hilarious. MM just spent 2021 chilling & acting like nothing happened because they knew the response would be... unkind. And so far, the responses have been... unkind. LOL.

Wow, that’s news to me. I don’t recall seeing any BGG freak out threads.
