So...this is sort of AT right?
Anyway did anyone pick this up? I'm interested to see how it plays versus the original. I like RRT a lot, bu rarely can get more than 3 players. Rails of Europe seems it will probably work a lot better as a 3 player game than the original RRT.

I have Rails of Europe on order. I talked to somebody Saturday who played Rail of Europe. They said the mapboard was smaller and tighter so it should play better with 3 or 4 players.

I should be getting it tommorrow. My hope is that with three players on this map that the game will be a little bit more cutthroat, I want groaning and moaning as I deliver the valuable resources and block others tracks with tactical track placement.
Of course i'm sure it wont pan out like that, but since AoS has like 1 billion expansion maps I figure RRT is due for at least one good expansion.

I've got it. It's a good map, it is in fact VERY tight- due to the geography there's a lot of nasty bottlenecking. It's not meant for more than 5 players, but I'd say that 4 is pretty much the limit. With 5 it's very, very difficult to get around.
One thing I like is that the major lines are moved from the cards and on to the board as "public objectives", so to speak. So they're always available. Not only does this put long-term goals right up front, it also increases the competition to get them. There's also new "Baron" cards (the word "Tycoon" appears nowhere in or on the game) and the cards are completely replaced.
Component quality is high, the art is still that gaudy Paul Niemeyer shading bonanza that I hate, but overall it's a good expansion although it doesn't really add any new mechanics or options to the base game. Looking forward to more.
