Another superb game that produces nail biting finishes

www.warmacre.com/webpages/hourofglory/hogcontents.html

You play one or more allied agents who break into a German stronghold on the eve of D-day, 1-3 players control the agents who sneak around trying to avoid sentries & guards controlled by the German player & collect various items of intelligence.

You great thing is that you have only 60 minutes to complete your mission, each action you take uses up time (some actions a fixed time, some variable depending on skill) & only intelligence items which you get out of the stronghold count.

Out favourite finish was when Maj Harris, bleeding from several wounds, stabbed a guard, hurdled his falling corpse and dived out through doors only 1 minute before they slammed shut trapping his dead, wounded & unconscious fellow agents inside.

Cheers

Game Contents:

"10 dice

5 red dice and 5 blue dice.
You roll them.
Things happen."

Ahahaha.

I've actually read about this game on BGG before but sort of forgot about it. Isn't there an expansion?

Thanks for the heads up.

I come across this from time to time while browsing the geek. Looks pretty cool. Like a dungeon crawler without the dungeon. Also more sneaking than crawling.

Yep, there's expansion called Bunkerstorm
www.warmacre.com/webpages/bunkerstorm/bs_intro.html
they also do a range of figures designed specially for the game which, while not at all necessary to play the game, really increase the flavour.

The components of the games of ok, the cards & figures are fairly thin card (they seem durable enough though), the room tiles are mounted on very thick card & will probably stop bullets. The genius part of the countdown timer, it really adds an air of mounting tension to the game.

Cheers

Hi - I'm one of the creators of Hour of Glory and I thought I'd join up to see what else you are discussing on this forum...

If you would like to hear an independent review of Hour of Glory, here is a new podcast all about it: http://printandplay.mypodcast.com/

Well worth playing. It is the first minis game I've played that actually uses stealth as a mechanic. (The second is Rackham's ill fated and badly mangled RPG Cadwallon. )

It has a great old school Castle Wolfenstein thing with a whiff of Metal Gear Solid.

The game is more than just rolling dice---there is some thinking involved, lots of drama, and the game really nails its theme. I prefer it far and away over Tannhauser.

Is it possible to buy a complete package of the game including the game itself and all miniatures for the characters, and how much would that cost?

I need to re-do the shop pages to include such a deal - but it will be £50 (with £10 discount for the deal)- most minis are new ones!

We have lots of new minis coming out very soon - more news later...

That would be awesome. How many miniatures are required for the game? I guess one for every hero, a few guards, but else?

That one comes with 25 minis - what you'll need for the basic game then you can get guard dogs, harder guards etc as extras!

We've got lots of extra advanced rules available as free pdfs (Killing Time) here if you're interested: http://www.wargamingonline.com/catalog/index.php/manufacturers_id/48

I've been eyeballing Hour of Glory for a few weeks now and I think I'm just about to the point where I can't resist ordering it any longer.

However, I was wondering what the average shipping times to the United States were like. I see on your online shop that it says to allow 28 days, but I am hoping that is the extreme end of the shipping spectrum.

I think is it 25 minis for the game.

2 minis per hero (3 heroes)
8-10 sentries
6-8 guards
Der Kommissar (Commander, anyway. I am a child of the 80's.)

We did play it just a couple of days ago. The only thing I wish for at the moment is stat reference cards for the Commander and Sentries. We have one for the guards.
