That's sad. What's even sadder is that in 5 years this game will probably be worth twice that if it remains unreleased to the general public. And NOT because hobby gamers are after it.

Which begs the question (sorry, Michael!!), did he purloin one for himself for a nice fat $500 profit?
If so, that's even more disgusting than Schloesser selling his 'not for sale' review copy.

I think he must have. I did a little snooping and this is his first marketplace sale in 5 years. I guess the $$$ were too much for him.
But I do notice today that he's taken the sale down. Someone must have informed him that he's being perceived a douchebag. I suspect he's just going to sell it in a more private manner.
And wouldn't Black Ops have made a cool addition to the library of games available for play at his annual convention? And it wouldn't have cost him a dime.

I assumed he got an unsolicited review copy sent to him since he does run a fairly popular board game related website. I don't see why he'd withhold a copy meant for a free giveaway. That's like accepting advertising money and not putting up all the ads. He'd be a fool to not court future Hasbro relations by acting douchebaggy like that.

You're right, that makes more sense. But then "here's your review copy which isn't for resale" and "here're some copies for your promo competition" is a subtle distinction. In either case, integrity and professionalism should mean an unwanted game does not get sold.
