Here's a short video with the designer describing the basic gameplay http://youtube.com/watch?v=6GIj3WssGhI

In recap (if you're too lazy to watch) there's an evil monster who's pestering a sleepy colonial American village. There are four villains to choose from: vampire, werewolf, scarecrow, headless horesman each with their own minions, rules and what not. Each player takes on the role of hero/investigator. You can play co-op against a harder version of the villain or competitively to see who can take it down first.

Sounds cool, I'm definitely interested.

Even though I love Last Night on Earth I'm not immediately excited for this title. And it doesnt have to do with the Theme, I would love this theme. I'm worried for that the game is too much LNOE set in the gothic horror period. (And while I'm not always against getting a game with same mechanics this prolly why after doom and space hulk I'm STILL wondering to pick up Descent myself or not.) But those games do have something that sets them apart. As far as I've heard I'm still wondering if this will be the case with A Touch of Evil.

So I'm just gonna wait it out for a while see how the game will be different. And then prolly still pick it up.

And I must agree with Barnes here, I loved the photo art on the LNOE, but the photoart on this game, what I seen of it so far: sucks. I dunno why but it looks too amateur for this game. But I gotta give them props for choosing the "nosferatu" vampire.

So far I think it sounds a lot different than LNOE. First of all, no player is controlling the bad guys. Second, it doesn't look like it has the same grid style board that LNOE. To me it looks like an adventure game more along the lines of Prophecy, Talisman and Runebound.

As for the photo art, I agree it is more fitting to LNOE's zombie movie theme. But it doesn't really throw me off and it's something not many other games are doing. If the game looks fun, then I'm all for it, regardless of hokey art or not.

Flying Frog was doing some demos of A Touch of Evil at Origins and a guy at BGG got to sit down with the designer and play through the basic rules of the competitive version of the game. http://boardgamegeek.com/article/2435298#2435298

I like the sound of stuff to do other than just running around fighting monsters. Trying to discover the town elders so you can pick the right ones for your confrontation with the villains sounds pretty good and totally in the spirit of Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow. It sounds like this game has a lot theme.

I also like the sound of using the cards to benefit yourself or hurt your opponent, kinda like in CDGs like Twilight Struggle.

Oh, the one downer is combat seems pretty much the same thing we saw in LNOE and Arkham Horror. Roll X number of dice and try to get 5s and 6s.

Talk about QUICK-my AToE preorder from FFP arrived today:woohoo:
I spent about $20 extra to preorder from FFP as I wanted this
sucker by Halloween.I had preordered LNoE from TH & it took forever so
this time I wanted to be in the front of the line(well after GenCon people).

They must have dropped the games off on the way out to GenCon B)
The problem is this was my FALL GAME-my group had figured spending
a month or so on Warriors of God.

I guess we'll still do that as somehow AToE needs crisp fall weather,
mulled cider & gingersnap cookies:)

For Warriors of God its cold chicken drumsticks & tankards of beer:laugh:
