Finally got a chance to try out the Air Pack and playing with the Air rules is like putting an extra dash of Gebhardt's in your chili, give's the game just a little kick and I like it!
One of the really interesting things about the air rules is that you have to keep your plane flying each turn. You have to order the plane each turn or it flies off the map. So I found myself trying to decide between keeping the plane flying or attacking on another flank.
Sending in a plane to strafe followed by an attack is very effective since the plane does damage on a "star" result as well.
Also, the real nice thing about the Air Pack is the comprehensive scenario book, nice to have everything in one place!
I enjoyed using the Air Rules and I will continue to try out the other scenarios using the planes.
I'm weird in that I've just never been compelled to pick up the M'44 expansions, and that's coming from a self-professed expansion whore. I don't know, something about just the base game is that just-right mix of light gaming goodness. If I wanted to complex it up, I'd just try something meatier.
But I do like little planes...so I might have to give this a look.
