I suggest "Fury of Dracula". We need to hash out this "Old Vs. New" stuff once and for all.

Do or do not, there is no suggest.

So I got my copy of War of the Ring in the mail this afternoon. Everything about it is gorgeous and the rules don't seem nearly as daunting as I expected. I can't wait to play.

One problem, though: I could practically watch my boards warp after I opened the box. They were flat for a few minutes but now I can run my fingers between the edge of the board and the table without even touching the board. And I've got big fat fingers.

Thankfully FFG is awesome for replacement parts and already has a sign-up on their website for replacement boards.

FFG is awesome about replacing stuff. I was missing a nazgul when I first got the game, and after emailing FFG about it, they sent me a new nazgul piece... made of heavier, sturdier plastic! Now the replacement piece is the first one to get used because it doesn't bend or fall over nearly as easily as the others.

WOR is one of my 10 year old daughter's favourite games. The 1st game she won with me 2 steps from dropping the Ring into Mt Doom.

Not to beat a dead horse but the "gateway" game that got her to WOR wasn't Carcassonne (even though she kicks ass at it) but Stratego which we've played plenty of since she was 5.

I just got my replacement boards on Saturday, so if you haven't received them yet they are probably winging their way to you right now. Thaadd said the originals looked like "an aggressive skate park," which wasn't too wide of the mark. She also sent the Elven elite I was missing. FFG kicks ass.
