This looks interesting:

Is Up Front tons of fun/easier than ASL? Or should I just skip this and try Warfighter?

Not really the same thing. Up Front is a card game (basically). I would not say it is easier than ASL, it still has a massive learning curve.

As I understand it, Warfighter is different again and is cooperative play not competitive.

Were you able to get these made? I attempted to follow the links but I don't see the files at arts cow.

I would try Warfighter before buying. I've played two 3-player coop games, and I liked it much less than expected. If WF had a 90-minute time limit it would be enjoyable, but since it doesn't I plan on staying away.

The problem is that Warfighter is, at its heart, a light game. Like a half-step up from Pathfinder and Castle Ravenloft - unless the game owner left out some advanced rules or something. I dig Pathfinder and CR, but I'd shoot myself in the head before playing either of those games for 3+ hours. Our last WF game would have easily lasted that long, except for the fact that - at the 2.5 hour mark - we cheated and artificially moved up the objective to our current position just to end the game.

It seems to me that the harder scenarios are mostly just longer. So the shorter intro scenarios are probably the way to go.

I also don't like that many of the endgame objectives in Warfighter have a turn limit. It makes thematic sense, sure, but I don't want to play a game for 3 hours only to find out that I have 10 minutes (2 turns) to knock down a helicopter (or whatever) - or we lose the game.

So, not my bag. Other folks here like it, though. Possibly it's better as a solo game, but I'm not really a solo gamer.

Those files have reappeared on artscow, perhaps due to the recent news that the Kickstarter will never happen. In any case, now's the time and the time is now if you are interested.

I have Warfighter and if I feel like I want satisfy my need to get my game on and no friends are available I will pull it out and play a scenario as part of a campaign solitaire. I introduced it to two friends and we played one of the longer scenarios in about two hrs before we got killed. (A martyr blew himself up and really damaged us badly a couple of turns earlier). I didn't see how it was any better with other people rolling dice for two of the soldiers. There aren't that many interesting decisions to make for each individual soldier.... Though it's important when the group advances on a new location.

So anyway, I highly recommend Warfighter as solitaire. If you want a good coop I would look elsewhere like Eldritch horror or whatever.

If you're on the fence, you might want to get it now. Rodger MacGowan has called out Toy Vault for using his box cover art and logo on the cards without his permission.

I ordered as soon as I saw that. They can just re-do it very quickly. If it's just the art, I'm sure they can come up with something.
