it has both worker placement, AND trains! what self confessed euro obsessive could fail to love that? they will surely consider it to be a real "gamers game" and not merely a hex and counter wargame once you reveal this prime slice of factomation to them.

Enough bookkeeping to keep a Eurogamer occupied?

Could fall down on the accountancy side, but it only has 5 pages of rules.

I just got a copy in a trade, can I move on to Puerto Rico and Fagricola after I play TRC?

Well, the rulebook is a bit longer, but the core rules are only 5 pages. The rest covers scenarios, optional rules, and a few charts, but the main game itself is very streamlined. Still trying to get a game of it in, I've only played a couple of turns solo so far.

That reminds that I finally have to write that review, in which I explain why "Snit Smashing" ought to be "Europlayers' Heaven". Here's my comment on BGG:

"It's a simple design (rulewise); you have to outthink your opponent. This "elegant" gem contains no luck. Hilarious (!) artwork on the bits. Replayability is warranted through random set-up. Unfortunately it has no feudal-europe pasted-up theme and is fun to play."

Good point, perhaps the 5th edition will also see an "impress the Stalin" track?

I have been thinking about making a game with a 6 card deck that you shuffle every time you use. Each one has a different colored train on it which is associated with a number you look up on a color coded track which is on the board.

I think it would pass Euro muster... what do you think?
