Has anybody here tried the game Silent War? I've realized that though I like PBEM, I can only play so much of it at one time. I would prefer to play ftf longer games, of course, but I just don't have the partners to do so. Therefore I'm looking for good longer solitaire games, and this one seems very interesting. It also looks nice as well, Compass games seems to be doing a nice job with production.
So has anybody tried this game? How is it? I know a campaign is long; is it tedious or exciting? There is a lot of rolling and whatnot, is it overwhelming? Also, is the game well balanced? That is, do you find yourself challenged by the system (getting X tonnage in Y time)?
Anyway, just curious to hear opinions here about the game, especially if you've spent time with the campaign.
So far I've only played a couple scenarios of a campaign and the early war campaign is a bitch. Your subs aren't up to snuff and there's alot to do. then I tried a scenario using the Modern Seawolf which was a blast.
I would like to play it some more but I would rather play it with someone else.
