Ethnos
El Grande
Imperial
Last Night on Earth
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation
Lords of Vegas
Magical Athlete

Let's say that this is my collection. Without knowing exactly what I like, (or which two I haven't even played yet) recommend that I get rid of two of them. Bonus points if you tell me why.

You should get rid of Last Night on Earth and Dungeon Degenerates. LNoE because it just is really not that good of a game. You already have a better zombie game (Mall of Horror), a better one-vs-all (Buffy), and better "haha, you're fucked" (Wiz-War/Cosmic). You get rid of Dungeon Degenerates because no one needs that game, in fact, I will even volunteer to buy it off of you at bargain basement prices so you do not need to worry about getting rid of it.

51st State- kludgy, boring, and there are better games in the genre.
Acquire
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000)- are you really playing this enough to keep?
Can't Stop
Champions of Midgard- good game, not realy a long term keeper though.
Cosmic Encounter
Cthulhu Wars
Duel of Ages II
Dungeon Degenerates
Ethnos
El Grande
Imperial
Last Night on Earth- garbage
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation
Lords of Vegas- cute, but not quite forever shelf material.
Magical Athlete
Mall of Horror- garbage
Mare Nostrum: Empires- why play this instead of Imperial, CW, NO...
Nexus Ops
Settlers of Catan
Small World- borderline...
Sons of Anarchy- no one would choose this over Spartacus
Space Hulk 3rd
Spartacus
Survive!
Tigris and Euphrates
Warrior Knights- you are never gonna play this as it should be played, with five veteran players and the expansion.
Wiz-War

Easy. The only game on this list I haver never owned is Buffy. Out of this list, I still own 12 of them. The only one I regret parting with is Magical Athelete.

That's a good collection with a lot more muscle than fat. I recommend you get rid of Ethnos because its the only one I've never heard of. Also Acquire because its the only one I'd refuse to play.

Oh, just 2? LNOE and Mall of Horror. Goodwill is too good for ‘em, take them out of circulation by placing them in a recycling bin.

Ethnos is an excellent Eurogame.

This is tough. You’ve got some real dogs in there, my friend. There’s 5 you can ditch easily. I’m going to have to go with Mall of Horror and 51st State.

Champions of Midgard with the expansions complete the game and it’s never leaving my shelf.

Last Night on Earth
Small World

I haven't played all of the games on your list, but I have played these two. LNoE is just not very good. The ONLY reason I still have mine is that it is the first game I ever fully painted so it has some sentimental value.

Small World... I only played it once or twice but I distinctly recall hating it. Boring euro-trash.

If you end up getting rid of Champions of Midgard, PM me. I have always wanted to try that one.

That's such a weird phrase. It appears to be trending right now.

Say goodbye to the following:

Spartacus: Totally overrated game. Its kludgy/ bad design has aged about as well as Disco. I sold mine to another person at this site and I've never regretted it for a moment. I'm glad this game put GF9 on the map, but its time has come and gone.

Small World: Once you realize the actual game mostly boils down to snatching up the right race combo + declining at the right time it really loses most of its luster. Plus, it commits the most basic boardgaming crime....it's sorta boring. You own the superior Ethnos. Feel free to take Small World out onto a lake and kick it overboard. Bonus points if you let loose a witty one liner as you perform the deed.

I think you can ditch Tigris and Euphrates and Small World. I regretted getting rid of many of my games but not those two.

Last Night on Earth- I know this one is bad. It may have been the third game I bought after finding this hobby around 2005. I have played it over a dozen times and I have always been the zombies AND I have NEVER played optimally to win. I just end up being a DM with far too many restrictions. I may end up moving it from the shelf to the shoe closet because it is the one game my wife forbids me to get rid of. I'm happy that there is one game that has given her good memories of gaming with me but we haven't pulled it out in over 5 years.

I like browsing the Recommend Me a Game threads but they usually just make me covet a new game with someone else's enthusiasm.. I thought that this might be an interesting thread (if only for me) and give me food for thought. Thanks for all the responses so far.

I missed you having this. Yeah, dump that. I’ve always been completely underwhelmed by it. It’s a halfway decent at best negotiation/bidding/backstabbing game with an utterly terrible combat game making up the other half. Whatever I like about the game is overshadowed by how truly awful the rest of it is.

The X-Men version is, for the most part, much, much better. The combats are missions with variable goals and they typically involve more than 2 players, so everyone isn’t stuck there watching 2 people slog through this inane, dull poorly designed combat thing. Throw in a house rule where you start with 1 or 2 VPs to speed things up and make the early bids more meaningful and it’s a really good time.
