It's been a good long while since I followed the board game release scene as I'm neck deep in GW lately. So, I need to post a lame game suggestion post.

I'd like to freshen up the family games a bit for the holidays.

I recently picked up Kingdomino and TtR:NYC. Both hits. I'd like another game in this range. small footprint, 10-15 mins. perfect for after dinner, but before bed time.

Also, I'd like a game in the hour long time frame. Think Catan or TtR proper. El Dorado was recently mentioned - and a strong candidate, but what about Blue Lagoon? That Photosynthesis game? Anything else I should look at?

In the hour timeframe, our family has been playing Quest for El Dorado and Through the Desert. Ethnos fits this bucket as well. Easy to teach, plays quickly, and has good variability with the random faction/race composition. Haven't played Condottiere in awhile, but it's also an excellent game in this tier (and actually available now that it's been reprinted).

For Sale is the shortest one that we'll occasionally play during the post dinner downtime, but it takes roughly half an hour.

Just get Quest For El Dorado and be done with it.

EDIT - Downforce would be my second pick.

I play a good deal of Forbidden Island with my kids at school. Seems to be popular with a wide range of ages.
