TWBG BGG microbadge? was created by Gary Sax

Anyone have the minor image editing skills it would take to create a TWBG microbadge? I always felt like it was a nice little thing for BGG folks to be able to see my/our F:AT microbadges and wonder what that was and maybe check it out. I'm a mess with image editing so even that easy job would be beyond me, but I would definitely immediately buy one and wear it over there most of the time.

Seems like a weird idea to me, like saying that Coke should offer a Pepsi-flavored Coke. Though I suppose that is more or less the short story of New Coke. Anyway, I'm content with my AmeriTrash badges there, on the increasingly rare occasions that I even visit BGG.

Someone pointed out to me that our favicon looks a little a bit like an Antifa flag, so don't know how that would play when it gets shrunk down to micro badge size. You probably have to go with the TWBG initials.

I've designed a few microbadges back in the day. And I can say that what Uba refers to as the favicon would make a poor badge.

Unless a unique symbol was created for the site, Uba's suggestion of TWBG would be best. Especially black letters with a red G that matches the chosen shade here.

As for symbols, that would be a large order of semiotic work. Semiotics is always a lot of work anyways, at least to create a good symbol, and abstracting "There will be Games" into an effective mnemonic symbol won't be easy.

Here's a couple of quick tries, because I couldn't write any more work documentation tonight.

So, the favicon red isn't the same as the "GAMES" red (but why, Uba, why...). I used the "GAMES" color here as it's a little darker.

Here I tried to get somewhere in between the favicon and the words logo, and had to do some creative squashing of letters

This is a straight-ahead 4-letters like Uba/ColorCrayons proposed.

Oh, the attachment view gets scaled up to reach a minimum size and gets blurry. Ignore them.

I kind of like the squished full name, though the initials are by far the more sensible option.

I can tell you from my dealings with the microbadge crowd over there, neither of those will fly. They are an incredibly picky crowd. Part of why I gave up doing MBs.

Agreed.

Except it's a game site, so it's entirely appropriate to game the user modded system.

Post the microbadges in the approval thread, then post a link of the poll to other threads and site that want what you made.

You now have approval since you merely need the majority of votes to say "yea".

That's pretty much how I felt too. It sorta works in its own weird way.

Yeah, I don't know how much I want to actually go play the BGG game there. Like, there are ten thousand shitty microbadges and now I have to convince some self-appointed noble that mine is better than the median? That's why I came here!

Really, I did them for laughs first, TWBG second, BGG a distant third. Anyone who wants to try to storm the gates there has my blessing.

Either of those two are better than mine. I like Turek's, but I honestly don't know whether the branding is black-on-red or or black/red-on-white.

Thanks for taking the lead, I don't know procedure over there. I like both, Turek's visually better, but yours is more consistent with site branding which I think works better.. If you're already over there doing it I say go ahead with yours.

Anything we can do to help? I don't know how they handle these.
