Big update regarding the annual Origins gaming convention:
www.originsgamefair.com/news/origins-pos...nline-scheduled-june
Origins was originally scheduled for June 17 - 21 this year, but the physical convention has been postponed until October 7 -11 this fall. There will still be an online version of the Origins convention on June 19 - 21, featuring virtual tabletop gaming and an online exhibit hall where gamers can demo and purchase games.
I wasn't planning on going to Origins this year, and this news doesn't change my situation. But if time and money weren't a constraint, I normally would like to go either Origins or GenCon. But right now, the idea of spending several days in crowded rooms and corridors with stinky fanboys is appalling. The online version of Origins sounds interesting, and I suppose I could actually attend that, but I don't have much experience with online gaming.

I've been attending both Origins and Gencon for years.
I don't think I'll be able to schedule a trek to Ohio this fall, and that bums me out.
I think it's only a matter of days before Gencon pulls the plug. I suppose the question there is whether that postpone and/or offer a virtual experience. I suspect there will be some sort of online opportunity.
Origins online? I'll try to check it out. I think I'll be pretty free that weekend
I enjoyed PATMOCON last month, and even Mantic Games "Virtual Open Day" last weekend - but those events were very much centered around Zoom lectures / Q&As / and discussion board stuff.

I live in Ohio so Origins is easy for me to attend. I have my ticket and based on the situation at the time may go to it in the Fall. I'm not sure that would be the case if I didn't have some professional reasons for doing that.
The thought of having to physically build a copy of my latest prototype that only exists digitally is exhausting.

Just talked to someone at Asmodee. They are in a frenzy. They're glad that there will something going on in June for Origins, but they weren't expecting this and now have about five weeks to get a handle on how to conduct game demos online.
