Gamefound (Awaken Realms) is stepping in to make a better (and cheaper) platform for boardgame designers to release their dreams (products). Competition always a good thing, plus a company that specialises in boardgames should treat designers and customers better.

I wish them luck. The coordination advantage in markets like this for the first mover is incredibly powerful, though.

It sounds like they have already got a lot of it, good for the hobby having a company specialising in gaming products offering this services. And they seem to be looking at streamlining, automating all the processes (pricing component production, delivery logistics) to make it easier for designers to produce content and us to get it - I'll probably find out as I'm pretty interested in Awaken Realm's ISS: Vanguard game they are going to start with.

For creators like Awaken Realms that already have a built in audience it makes sense. For smaller outfits, KS may still be the better option from the visibility standpoint.

Those (big) creators have a massive customer count that will be a noticeable financial loss for Kickstarter, plus will save money for the creators.
