Short Cut to Remote Gaming Forum (29 Aug 2020)

Since remote gaming has now become a significant part of how we play board games, we have added a short cut to this forum in the menu on the left.

× Talk about whatever you like related to games that doesn't fit anywhere else.

There Will Be Gamers

Scenario: It's 2022, and the pandemic is over. The stars are aligned and you just found out that several regular posters from this site will all be in your town and available to play some boardgames at a local venue. You don't know with certainty which people will show up, but you know there will be at least three people showing up, maybe as many as five.

Which games do you bring?

I happily play whatever every one else brings, but bring The Gothic Game because it is one game that everyone here should have a chance to experience (if they are in the mood for a bit of silliness).

Five? Screw that. I want 60 of you to show up and we're all playing Wings of Glory on one HUGE table.

If it's a small group (say 20 or less) I'd opt for the classics. Acquire, Settlers, Merchant of Venus, etc. Games with all their certs.

Cyclades and Theseus. Outside in the car I will have Cockroach Poker and a bottle of Lagavulin for later.

edit: oh, it's regular posters only...let's hope once every other month for years is regular enough

Has it been that long since you have posted? How's about we expand it to include regular lurkers as well. Sometimes people just haven't got much to say on a regular basis.

Battlestar Galactica ... it'll be my only chance to get enough people to play it these days.
Then throw in A Game of Thrones 2E, Fortress America and Buffy for a variety.

I'm forcing people into a game of Blood Royale and getting a table of C & C: Naploeonics going.

Red Dragon Inn will be available to fill time as well.

Is this like when starving people ask each other what food they miss most?

That's me as well! I will bring Wallenstein, we'll all be chugging our warriror cubes into the cube tower left and right and I'll tell you guys how to pronounce Mecklenburg, Ober-Österreich and Hessen-Darmstadt, right before I invade them.

I want to play Root with pros and would play the faction that is best suited for a noob.

Other games that I'd love to play: Dune and tons Nexus Ops. Everything with drama and conflict is ok in my book.

I've been face to face gaming since the beginning of July when our lockdown properly ended, count is 136 games so far
although 90 of those have been card games - various Legendary series deckbuilders and half that number being questing with the LotR card game.

How the hell did you people all manage to be in Melbourne at the same time? Not that I'm complaining... :)

Insanely unlikely / non-Euclidian travel aside: Nexus Ops, Merchants and Marauders, The Estates, Merchant of Venus, Cosmic Encounter. And if anyone's willing: Starcraft!

I would dust off Puerto Rico in hopes of a nasty 5 player game. And Marvel Champions (I have ALL the stuffs.)

I would wait for a spot at any of the Root tables, that had room for a third timer.

I would probably let one you curmudgeons show me the glory of any number of ancient war games. I jumped in at Cataan and Carcassonne when my kids were into gaming, after wasting my youth playing D&D and Ccgs. There was one brief season when I was 14 where I picked up Dawn Patrol (a TSR dog fighting game) and we played it and I started fantasizing about all these cool Avalon Hill games at the hobby shop by the D and D minis, but the dudes that hung around to play those games were oooooollllllddddd. I'm probably old enough to appreciate them now.
