Wow, went to a thread about bad boardgame themes and a videogame discussion broke out! You guys don't want to get me started...
The ending to Bionic Commando was seven kinds of awesome and proof that the Nintendo folks didn't bother to play through to the end before allowing it to be released. Hitler was the final boss, he dropped the "GD" bomb while ranting at you, and his death was pretty gruesome for an 8-bit title.
I think I beat two games that no one else bothered to: RAMBO and FAXANADU. Which had two effects--I got Anthrax's "State of Euphoria" at the same time I got Rambo, and to this day I still associate parts of the album with playing the game. Second, Faxanadu gave me "Remember your mantra!" which I still say today and no one gets.
I see the word Wasabi, and immediately think of the Jean Reno movie. Man, a game about that would be awesome or something.
I also finished Faxanadu, though. Even went and spent the time to buy the Death spell from that shop outside the first town... such a pain, but totally worth it when you one-shot the first boss with it.
Rambo... shit, I could never even figure out what the hell you were supposed to do in that game.
