Although, after thinking about it, conventions are another animal altogether. I can't imagine going to a game convention without knowing 3 or 4 people in passing at least. I've met lots of weirdos, but quickly had to learn to avoid large sections of the gaming rooms for more time with the wargamers. Is it just my experience, or are wargamers generally the most "normal" or all the gamers?

I love wargames, myself, so I can't argue with that! :p

When I moved to this new town here, I was left with no choice other than going to the university's game group, because I knew nobody here. Game groups are a blender of people. Some you'll like, others you won't, but still others might even become friends of yours.

Ca$h'n'Gun$ I played at a con to which I went with a friend. We played the game with two random people we met there and had a lot of fun. They were of our age, so that helped. The girl won most of time though, because nobody wanted to shoot her.

I have had great experiences playing with people I don't know. The only bad experience that sticks in my mind is playing with a gay friend with some guy who would say "that is so gay", "you are so gay", "this card is so gay" every two minutes whenever he was attacked or anything happened in the game he didn't like. That was horrible and I must admit to not konwing how to deal with it.
