While I do enjoy listening to your interviews with the trash talking AT staff, the podcast with Scott also was very interesting.

The Derk's apology segment was funny as hell.

It is true you offered an interview to Drew?

Yes, I invited Drew on the show right after the Skeletor Interview but he did not respond and in fact vanished for about a month.

It would be interesting to see if Drew's phone personality was anything like his rambling, illogical and "know it all" posts on BGG.

In fact, this was all Derk was trying to say to him about him coming to BGG Con before Derk was made to apologize for a silly non issue.

Those guys over there are in their own world as we all know!

However, I will say I did enjoy a classic phrase by Derk

"Devalue the currency of the complainer"

HA!!!

Kind of an arrogant statement that assumes the whole hobby is on the "GEEKGOLD" standard, which as we all know is far from the truth!

What was it about Mr Skeletor?

Well Drew mentioned he might like to attend BGG Con and Derk replied that it would be great to meet him because he always is interested in how "internet bad asses" handle themselves in person.

Well Drew got offended and said he would not go to BGG Con, people got upset and Derk apologized for his "snarky" comments.

Derk's apology can be read hear and this is what I lampoon in the podcast.

If you read the thread Drew eventually says that you slandered him on my podcast and calls me an idiot, not by name but says "the idiot at the microphone"

That's sooooo funny. Even when the site goes down they can't help but act like idiots.

Great show, Steve. I really wish you'd share your sound secrets with some other podcasters out there, as there are some that sound like they're coming through a tin can.

Scott is so passionate and enthusiastic about the hobby that he's always entertaining to listen to. And his intro for "18XX EXTREEEEM" still cracks me up.

"Tulips....FLAMING TULIPS~!"

*POW*

Christsakes ... like four times he says that.

That sure makes it harder to have any sympathy for poor, martyred Drew. What a tool. Maybe he'll de-cloak over here and write 27 paragraphs defending himself; that would be a must-read.

My God, the forums at That Other Place are a never-ending source of comedy gold ...

Scott comes across as a real boardgame hero - a true evangelist who is serious about doing his homework and figuring out the best ways to get some (not all) more of THESE GAMES OF OURS out to the masses. Kudos.

A chunk of Verizon's one million dollar grant? Impressive.

EDIT: also, the end song was really great. As always, the music's top notch and entertaining.

Thanks for your comments! I was also amazed at Scott! I thought it was interesting about his Gathering of Friends story. While the "elites" stayed cloistered and hidden playing games for 10 days Scott said he needed a break and went out to talk to local libriaries trying to spread Boardgamemania rather than keep it with the "tiny group of people"

A true Boardgame Hero indeed!!!

Scott Nicholson posted a thread about the podcast on BGG.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/322109

I was accused of setting "traps" for Scott (AKA Prof. Bear)

If there were "traps" in that interview maybe someone here can let me in on them! HA!

Brad Miller then takes the "traps" as fact and calls me a "tool"

It is funny because Scott talks about Barnes' "acidic" posts on BGG but they never were as harsh as these from Brad and Drew.

I think it's pretty retarded to see any "traps" you set, and even if you really wanted to take them that way, Scott sure didn't. He just shot the shit with you about something you both love - having fun playing board games. Really, the only major difference I see between him and Barnes is that Scott "doesnt care about winning." That and something about a tattoo...

You sure trapped him into talking about his new game! YOU MONSTER!

HA! Good point! And as much as I made fun of the game in the past I told Scott I was going to reserve judgement until I played it.

Maybe we can convince Barnes to review "Tulipmania"
