Really Jim?

Really Jim? was created by Green Lantern

Wow. I'm speechless. This is far more tasteless than Ken's impression of Andre the Giant but no where near as amusing.

It wasn't funny but 'tasteless'? This actually looks a lot like the original hee-haw! Granted I didn't listen to all the lyrics... so maybe. Charleton Heston was an idiot so I could care less.

I don't mind his anti-gun stance and message, but mocking a dead man is over the line and cowardly. There had to be far more constructive ways to take a stand that don't involve bashing a man that has passed on.

Seriously!?

I guess making fun of Hitler needs to stop right now.

Yeah, because mocking a U.S. patriot and proponent of civil rights is totally the same as mocking a genocidal maniac.

That was sarcasm BTW, Shweegy. Figured I'd spell that out for you since you tend to muddle things together.

Ah! See, I thought you actually believed mocking dead people was over the line.

Maybe Jim's just walking the line...like Johnny Cash.

I await Jim Carrey's next knee-slapping tune: Not Getting Vaccinated Gave My Daughter Polio.

I had a problem with this in Bowling for Columbine too. Not because I have any respect for Charlton Heston, besides having a nice voice I know very little about the man. He's not a Canadian icon and has little to no relevance here.

But because he is a weak and easy target. When I see Micheal Moore attempting to get him into a debate I thought: "really Mike? Is that a worthy target? Should I be impressed that you beat him in a debate?" He didn't seem like the most promising member of the debate team to me. Basically if you focus your energy debating someone on that level... your river will never rise above it's source. It's akin to trying to prove your point by completely ignoring intelligent opposition to your argument and instead beating someone who has little to no rhetorical skills. It proves nothing.

However I'm all for making fun of the dead, regardless of how good or evil they were. Laughing at death is our greatest power over it.

...starts at 2:50 and was taped like a week after the Croc hunter died. Perfect timing, it would have no punch today.

I have no issues making light of a sad situation or death, and the comments from Norm are spot on. The difference in what he said versus what Jim Carrey did are night and day. Norm wasn't trying to be relevant or edgy by mocking the Croc hunter's death to further an agenda. That's where Jim Carrey strays into an act with no class. There was no need to drag Charlton Heston, Hee Haw, or country music through the mud and into a sad comedy bit to make a point about gun control legislation. If you oppose the NRA and what it stands for then get involved and stop picking on the memory of a dead man. Complete chicken shit move.

Why is that? I'm not trying to play on his life or death for attention or political purposes. I think the guy means well but this move was stupid and hypocritical.

Oh I see what's happening. You don't have to defend Mr. Carrey out of some sense of national pride, Barney. Canada has given us much more to be thankful for...you know, Nickelback and that kick ass bacon. Stuff like that.
