House Slithereen is in mourning.

So as we know, big celebrities often die in threes. David Bowie and now Alan Richman.

This one hits me harder than David Bowie since I've always been more of a film buff than a music guy.

I remember seeing Richman as Sheriff of Nottingham in Prince of Thieves with my mom and loving this guy but of course Die Hard is where I fell in love with this guy.

I wanted this to be professional. Efficient, adult, cooperative, not a lot to ask. Alas, your Mr. Takagi did not see it that way, so he won’t be joining us for the rest of his life.

And of course he was perfect as Snape. I don't really like the Harry Potter films that much. I only like 3 and the last one. But if anything makes these movies good or tolerable, it's this guy.

Same age as Bowie, same cause of death. So weird.

Who's going to be number three?! Don't tell me it was Pat Harrington. No one gives a shit about that guy.

I'm hoping it's Beiber. Canadian be damned.

RIP Alan Richman, we loved you.

As they were all Brits I'd say Lemmy was the 1st followed by Bowie and Rickman - well I hope as that is enough for now.

Barney: Just hope your golden pipes don't burst in Heaven and Schneider is the only contractor you can find. Fixing them will take an eternity.

Barney asked for a Canadian and he got one - Celine Dion's husband. You are a bad man !

I can't believe Montreal flags are at half-mast for that guy. Even CNN's article on him had to delicately refer to when he and Celine started. "They met when she was 8 years old, then in 1988 (when she was an adult) they began romantically seeing each other.."

I'm mad that I'll never get to play poker with him. That would have been fun.

René Angelil was arguably a lot more influential on culture in Quebec over the decades than either Bowie, Lemmy or Rickman, or even all three combined.

On one of those comedy shows that would go out to meet celebs/politicians/etc. and bug them (100 Limites/Taquinons la planète - actually where my handle Columbob comes from), they asked Angelil if he french kissed Céline (before she turned 18) and he got really mad, threatening them not to air that piece. They did it only a decade later on a reunion show, but that bit was later cut from the DVD release.

Céline was the influence on Quebec, not Rene.

Bowie had the biggest cultural impact of all here though. For a hint of it, see the Quebec film C.R.A.Z.Y.

Not surprised Rene got mad at that question since he clearly was sexually attracted to her much earlier. How early I wouldn't want to think about. It's coming up now what a huge control freak he was with her and how much her mom hated him.

But René was the brains behind the voice. He was a businessman and he'd been in the music biz for a long time before Céline came along.

Super good businessman, no doubt. He monetized her talent like nobody's business. He'll be remembered as long as Celine is still alive. The second she croaks, the world and history books will only talk about her.

I just don't understand why flags are half-mast for this guy. It bothers me.
