That's GW's own doing though. I don't quite know how the Talisman minis work, but FFG can't produce anything that could be construed as a 40k mini per contract from what I've heard. If GW printed something like Relic it would be ripe for crossover by design.

I wonder if those Forbidden Stars minis are of a similar scale to whatever the new edition of Epic will be.

It would be dumb of GW to tinker with their licensing agreement with FFG, so of course they'll probably overreach and ask FFG to pay a huge increase in fees, thus tanking the whole thing.

That aside, their recent board games don't seem like a fresh approach so much as the market catching up to GW's pricing structure where a $100+ board game no longer raises eyebrows. Not only can GW charge their premium prices, but now they can also include their higher-quality miniatures - due to the even higher prices - which allows them to sell even more board games to their devoted WH40K and WH Fantasy players. I'd be curious to see how much these recent product launches have to do with the prices in this post-KS world, but part of me wonders if they just happened to have a bit of good luck in that regard. After all, WHFB wasn't selling all that well so a reboot was probably going to happen, anyway.

That's very true! It's really easy for someone like me to go on a forum and spout conspiracy theories, but I really don't have any insight into how this stuff works.

Wasn't taking a cheap shot at you, Nate, just want to clarify there. No, the reason for me saying that at all was because Egg Shen and I have speculated a bit on this for awhile now, and amongst the Doom license and MoM, we were sure the GW stuff was dwindling down, but it's still out there. Both companies have thrown us all for a few loops lately, so who knows anymore.

Really though, what each FFG does poses no threat to what GW does or even seems interested in doing. FFG makes LCGs and hobby games on the deeper end of the pool. GW makes minis and sometimes those minis come with a game in the box. Those games are pure, concentrated doses of Classic AT game design and nowhere near what FFG does. Neither one cannibalizes the other in any way. Diskwars came close, but all indications are that its dead.

The Forbidden Stars minis...I'm not sure they'd be any use to Epic? There's no figures in FS, just tiny spaceships.

Pete, I'm surprised you didn't pick up on the more interesting potential with Doom. While I think Rage or Quake are unfortunately irrelevant IPs at the moment, there is the fact that iD's stuff is being published by Bethesda these days...which, you know...

Quake Champions is in development, so I don't think it's irrelevant. Rage.... that game sucked. Pete's crazy.

I'll clarify... all the parts where you weren't shooting something in Rage sucked. And there were too many of those parts.
