I'm so there opening day for this one just because it's the first post-apocalyptic picture with mohawked punks in over 20 years...the trailer, I dunno. I've never seen something looks so awesome and so terrible at the same time.

Marshall's done decent work so far (DOG SOLDIERS, THE DESCENT) but those were fairly small pictures, I don't know how he'll handle something bigger in scope. Hell, if nothing else it'll probably be fun.

Agreed. The whole pristine Bentley crashing through a school bus un-scathed was a bit oddball, and the "one-liners" might mar it.

But what can I say. I have a collection of 80's post-apoc movies on my computer, that cheesy was the bill.

The Mad Max movies were great though, as it never pulled any punches, and was "gritty" the whole way through. No "pretty make-up" protagonist in there.

That's one thing I dislike about the movies today, everyone is so 90210, too pretty.

It's all high-gloss hollywood horseshit. Watch movies from the late'60s and early 70s instead. Or NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.

No kidding. A Humvee doesn't have enough clearance for the grooves in Tommy Lee Jones' face.

Folks, please go watch The French Connection. Gene Hackman is the sexy one in that movie, but it's so awesome. Morally ambiguous, fucking exciting as hell. It's awesome.

Movies like the one this thread is about just make me sad. Honestly, wouldn't dusting off The Road Warrior*, maybe re-issuing the 70mm 6-track print be a million times better for everyone?

*(That's Mad Max 2 to you, Skelly).

I wish I could watch movies like this... I love post apoc theme, but I am a notorious wuss for any sort of violent visuals. I generally stick to books. PG-13 is often a bit much for me...

There was an Aussie movie from 1986 that I love - one of the few not to scary for my pansy self. Dead End Drive in http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090915/ . The cover has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. But it does feature mohawk punk rockers living in a scary future world at a Movie Theater. One of those ones where you hate the protagonist alot, however.
