Putting those ships together looks like a nightmare. Pass.

"Oh, and don't forget your Plastic Glue, too. These warships do fit together without it, but a dab of Plastic Glue will make your Warships even more robust should you become over-excited and wreak some battle damage of your own."

In other words, they're snap-fit models like most of GW's starter sets (and Space Hulk, incidentally.) Should take you 10 or 15 minutes once they're off the sprues.

As someone who has gone off space hulk 3rd edition, this looks fucking amazing.

Man am I on the edge here.

If that's a CLOTH seascape map...that would seal the deal. The ships look cool, but they'll require hours and hours and HOURS of fucking painting. And GW doesn't do FFG and put out "meh" miniatures, they put out EPIC miniatures. So, lots of detail work.

So, that means no coffee and cutting back on smokes until the project is done.

This is looking grim, mates.

I may have to pass. Space Hulk it is not. Maybe once I see the rules, maybe...but maybe not. Not as autobuy as I was hoping.

It's CLOTH.
Doh, these brittons really have the formula to turn lead (and now plastic) into gold.
Autobuy for me... am I some sort of addict or what ? :p

I'll pass on this. It would need some actual tactical decisions a la Space Hulk and not just the typical GW "Send your forces to clash on the middle of the table and watch what happens" game. And I'm not hopeful for that.
While it is visually impressive, the goofy factor is a bit to high for me. A giant hammer on the front of your boat to smack other boats with? Come on, who thinks that's cool? And how many "Skull Islands" do you need?

I played Man O War a few times back in the day and have been regretting not getting into it ever since.

See, that's kind of where I'm at. For 110$, what's the difference between Dreadfleet and Island of Blood? They're both packed with wicked cool miniatures, and they're both WHF settings. Both box sets.

Space Hulk is different, special. This looks neat, but for 110$ I'm talking Earth Reborn, Ascending Empires, and I can finally get back Merchants and Marauders.

But man are the minis cool.

I've decided to pass after all. I mean, the boats look crunk as hell and I love that it's self contained, but the reality of it is that I'd never paint them, which means gray boats and gray islands sitting on that cloth map. Plus, storing those boats without breaking them? Good luck!

Too many unknowns too...unknown design, unknown designer...

I do want to hear how it is if anyone gets it though.

Yeah as awesome as this looks to me, it would be wise to wait for reviews. Remember Space Hulk sets were so super limited, then GW magically "found" another shipment of them, then the game's availability was extended for some time (months I think?).

Gameplay video: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/blogPost.jsp?aId=18300007a

Kinda sparse on the descriptive end, but it certainly looks cool.

That video is awesome. Vague, at best, but awesome.

I'm looking at those ships, knowing I'm good, but not NEAR that good, and I know that my painted ships will be nowhere near the awesome levels that those are.

Hrmph.

To order, or not to order. If only I'd not just spent 90$ on Tannhauser bits...I'd have most certainly gotten this.

I can't justify it knowing nothing about the rules, unfortunately.
