Conan - Rise of Monsters

Just saw this today.

What's the deal? Why'd it fail? Too similar to that other, recently kickstarted Conan game?

Reading through the comments it appears that the project was not on track to fund and that they then made some deal with Reaper Minis to work together on it. I don't know what the initial end date of the kickstarter was supposed to be but it looks like they might have pulled the plug early because of their new partner.

The big gripes seem to have been the pricing which was not less than retail and made people angry because backers were paying full list while people who wait would get the discounts available from on-line or retail outlets. Also the entry cost was really steep, somewhere at $150 plus. So after the initial draw of early bird rewards the project wasn't moving fast.

The big shock to me is that it was another "box of minis" with maybe a game and it DIDN'T skyrocket. Of course with Reaper's name attached, when it gets relaunched watch it go through the roof.

Prepainted this time around., yet I think most people have had enough Conan minis pledges for awhile with the aforementioned successful funding last winter.

Saw this at Gen Con, got the demo. The minis looked great- they really played up the fact that the same guys who do the x wing minis will do theirs. The game play was kinda meh, and the price was steep.

Isn't paying retail standard for most Kickstarters?
